The outfit is a little more sedate for Peter Wright today - if that's possible (see 22:25 GMT).

He's in predominantly purple, although his shirt has printed on it a large Santa Claus-style belt, while the snake in the motif on his back is wearing a Santa hat.

Wesley Plaisier will throw first against the two-time world champion.

Peter Wright might be able to take some heart from the fact that Wesley Plaisier, when he came out the other day, we were expecting big things from him and he really took a long time in that match to get going.

If the same thing happens again, Peter could quite easily see him off.

I'm hoping that now Wesley has played on that big stage, he'll be a bit more settled because he was very nervous.

One thing you can guarantee when Peter Wright is playing is plenty of colour.

The Scot often brings Christmas a little bit early to Alexandra Palace in the early rounds of the World Championship - here are three of his festive-themed outfits from previous years...

Peter Wright was a couple of months away from his 50th birthday when he won his first world title in January 2020, beating Michael van Gerwen in the final.

Two years later, he lifted the Sid Waddell Trophy for a second time by defeating Michael Smith.

But his form has tailed off a little bit since then and Wright enters this year's tournament 17th in the PDC's Order of Merit ranking system.

    Result: Meikle 3-2 Sherrock

Ryan Meikle, speaking to Sky Sports after his win over Fallon Sherrock:

"I felt good coming into the match and in the first leg I missed three or six darts [to win it], Fallon went out and I was on the back foot. Before I knew it, she'd won the first set.

"I felt under pressure from the start and to come through feels unbelievable."

    On playing Luke Littler next:

"It's an unbelievable prize to play Luke here on this stage. It's the biggest stage of them all. I'm so happy.

"Nobody knows what will happen on Saturday but to play him here, I am really happy. I'm not saying I'm going to win but I just can't wait to play him."

    Meikle 2-2 Sherrock* (2-1)

On commentary for Sky Sports, former world champion John Part describes this final set as a "battle of wills" and he's absolutely right.

    *Meikle 2-2 Sherrock (1-1)

A big, big dart for Fallon Sherrock, who finds double top with the last dart in her hand and Ryan Meikle waiting to pounce.

    All square.

Every dart is critical now - a bounce-out or a dart landing a millimetre the wrong side of a wire could make all the difference.

Both players miss darts to win the opening leg of the final set, but it's Ryan Meikle who takes it.
