That is a bit of a cheeky thing when you start not needing the bull, but you ending up needing it and you hit it. It can irk the opponent, especially for a break of throw. That would have painful for Daryl.

Florian Hempel, against the darts, gets down to a finish first and will get six darts at 170.

The first three leave a 74 out and with the second visit, he takes it on the bull after a nine and 15 set up.

Speaking of money, the winner of this match will pocket at least £10,000 extra in prize money and will be in the third round after Christmas to face Jonny Clayton.

Having been broken in the first leg, Florian Hempel won the first set after taking three straight legs. Two of those were on Daryl Gurney's throw.

Hempel is averaging 103.14 after that first set even after missing six of his nine darts at a double.

Gurney is hardly playing badly at an average just over 95, also taking a third of his double chances.
