Not long ago, GB's Karim Chan was competing in the men's T38 long jump final at the Stade de France.

But he missed out on a medal by just one centimetre with his final jump, finishing fourth.

Chan needed to produce a 6.40m leap to match bronze medallist Jose Gregorio Lemos Rivas of Colombia on his final attempt, but recorded 6.39m with a brilliant final jump.

“It was really amazing. It was a brilliant crowd out there. I am a little disappointed, but I will try and come back this season even better, and I am looking forward to LA. I want to be in medal contention at the Paralympic Games in LA," he said.

“My jumps were quite consistent, they could have been a little bit better.”

Neutral athlete Khetag Khinchagov won gold with a best of 6.52m, ahead of China's Zhong Huanghao.

GB’s Kayleigh Haggo, David Smith and Claire Taggart failed to progress from the BC1/BC2 mixed team boccia quarter-finals after they were beaten in a tie-break by Indonesia.

With the scores tied 7-7 after six ends, Indonesia’s Muhamad Syafa, Felix Ardi Yudha and Gischa Zayana held off the GB team in a closely fought contest to win the tie-break 3-0.

The match came on the last day of the boccia competition at the South Paris Arena. GB’s Stephen McGuire won gold in the BC4 men’s individual on day five.

Clichy-sous-Bois is not the most auspicious part of Paris - a quiet suburb in the east of the city, it is not often graced by world-class sporting events.

But today it hosts the first of four successive days of road cycling at these Games, and the sun has come out for it - it is a scorcher in Paris.

After the events this morning were held in relatively cool temperatures, athletes will have to stay hydrated and on top of their game for the full 28.3 kilometres.

However, in the other half of the draw, doubles team-mate Gordon Reid is out after losing in straight sets to Argentine fourth seed Gustavo Fernandez.

Reid was thrashed 6-0 in the opening set but fought back from 5-3 down in the second to force a tie-break, which he has just lost 7-5.

Hewett will face Spain's Martin de la Puente or Frenchman Stephane Houdet for a place in the gold medal match.

Aged just 14, Great Britain's Bly Twomey is guaranteed a medal in the women's WS7 singles after beating Smilla Sand to confirm her place in the semi-finals.

But Felicity Pickard was beaten 3-2 in the WS6 singles quarter-finals by Romania's Camelia Ciripan.

She won't be walking away from Paris without a medal though, as she claimed bronze in the women's doubles WB14 last week.

GB's Megan Shackleton was unable to stop Serbia's Borislava Peric-Rankovic who won 3-2 in the WS4 singles quarter-finals.

In the men's MS9 singles GB's Joshua Stacey was unable to progress through to the semi-finals after he was defeated by Australia's Ma Lin 3-0.

There is plenty of Para-table tennis to come with GB's Rob Davies competing in the semi-final of the MS1 singles, while Aaron McKibbin will be looking to book himself a spot in the semi-final of the MS8 singles. Both games are at 18:00 BST.

Ben Watson, Jaco van Gass and Fin Graham will aim for a clean sweep in the men’s C3 time trial, while Archie Atkinson contests the C4 event.

At the Stade de France, wheelchair racer Sammi Kinghorn, already a double medallist in Paris, will hope to become the first non-Chinese athlete to win Para-athletics T53 100m gold for 20 years (19:08).

In the pool, Stephen Clegg targets the podium in the S12 100m freestyle final (16:30) while Poppy Maskill and Olivia Newman-Baronius are the fastest two in the world this year in the SM14 200m IM (16:50).

Here's Barney Storey, husband of 18-time Paralympic champion Sarah, with their two children, 11-year-old Louisa and six-year-old Charlie.

Dame Sarah said competing at a Games which her children would remember was a big part of her coming to her ninth Paralympics aged 46 - and now she has a gold medal to show for it.

“The kids are due to start school tomorrow but they have special dispensation for two days," she said. "They are going home on Saturday. Louisa is in Year 7 and will be catching up, but she is practicing her French.

“Louisa said to me last night at dinner, ‘this is the first Games I’m going to remember’.”

“I’m utterly delighted, I feel so, so proud."

'Delighted' Storey delivers 29th medalpublished at 12:59 British Summer Time 4 September

Sarah Storey is solely competing in road events at Paris 2024 in what is her ninth Games - the most ever for a British athlete - and she will now look to add a 19th gold in the road race on Friday.

Among active Paralympians, Belarusian swimmer Ihar Boki has overtaken Storey in terms of most golds won in a career, reaching 21 after five victories in Paris.

In spite of her unhappiness at the course, Storey, who first competed in the Games at Barcelona in 1992, was delighted to extend her record as Britain's most decorated Paralympian with her 29th medal.

In Paris she was watched by her two children - 11-year-old Louisa and six-year-old Charlie.

"Louisa said to me last night at dinner, 'This is the first Games I’m going to remember'," Storey said.

"I'm utterly delighted. I had a target to get five gold medals [in time trial]. I feel so, so proud.

"You can put the challenges aside, we race the course and prepare for it, but it is brilliant, to have friends and family here, the cheering off the start line. I'm so pleased."

Great Britain's Sarah Storey won her 18th Paralympics gold medal this morning.

Storey won the women's road event for a fifth successive Games on a C5 event course measuring just 14.1km - the first time she has raced a Games course shorter than 22km.

The 46-year-old, who beat French hope Heidi Gaugain, described the course as "appalling" and said athletes had appealed to Games organisers about the course length for the women's race but heard nothing back

"It's a short race. This is the shortest Paralympic time trial we have ever had, and I think it's a real shame because we don't get to showcase Para-sport in the way we want to," Storey said.

She is one of 13 British riders competing throughout Wednesday in road time trials, with team-mate Fran Brown winning silver in the women's C1-3 category.

Faye Rogers says she "couldn't be happier" after winning Paralympic gold last night in a thrilling S10 100m butterfly final, edging out British team-mate Callie-Ann Warrington.

In 2021, Rogers, 21, competed at the Olympic trials but did not qualify for the GB team for Tokyo.

That September, she was injured in a car accident which left her with permanent damage to her right arm. She was initially told she would not swim competitively again but is now thriving in Para events.

"The last three years has been such a journey so to be stood here with this medal is just incredible. I can't stop smiling," she told BBC Radio 5 Live.

"We swim it really differently. Callie takes it out fast and I back-end it, I don't really have the same speed that she does. Down that last 50 she was making me work. It was a tough race, it felt hard."

Britain's swimming team now have 14 golds in Paris and 20 medals overall.

First, a little recap of yesterday's action.

Faye Rogers edged team-mate Callie-Ann Warrington to deliver Great Britain's 30th gold medal on day six at the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games.

Rogers, 21, overhauled Warrington to touch the wall first in the women's S10 100m butterfly final as both swimmers claimed their first Paralympic medals.

GB won six medals in total on Tuesday, with wheelchair racer Sammi Kinghorn winning her second silver of the Games in the women's T54 1500m and wheelchair fencer Piers Gilliver taking silver in the men's sabre A category.

Natasha Baker and Georgia Wilson added bronzes in the individual grade III and II Para-equestrian events at the Chateau de Versailles.

Elsewhere, British tennis stars Alfie Hewett and Gordon Reid progressed to the men's wheelchair doubles semi-finals, while Para-table tennis player Will Bayley reached the last four of men's MS7 singles.

Great Britain's men beat Australia in the quarter-finals of the wheelchair basketball to set up a semi-final against Germany.

Briton Zac Shaw, who contested the men's T12 100m final on Saturday, was upgraded to a bronze medal after Turkey's winner Serkan Yildirim was retrospectively disqualified.
