Poppy Maskill has been speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live's Maz Farookhi after winning ParalympicsGB's first gold in Paris:

"It was so hard. I was just trying my hardest not to die. I was just trying to see how I could do compared to this morning."

What did you take from this morning's swim into this final?

"Just try my hardest and see what happens."

First Paralympic experience - how did you enjoy it out there?

"It's weird, it's really cool. It's just unreal."

Great Britain's Krysten Coombs has forced a deciding game against Hong Kong's Man Kai Chu in his opening group match of the para-badminton men's singles SH6.

Coombs lost the first 21-13 but edged a close second 21-19 to stay in contention at La Chapelle Arena.

GB's Claire Taggart came out on top in brilliant fashion in her Pool A match with Ecuador's Joselyn Leon. She eased to victory with a 10-1 win.

The same can't be said for Kayleigh Haggo after she was beaten by South Korea's Soyeong Jeong 3-1 in her Pool C match.

At the boccia, Claire Taggart is leading Ecuador's Joselyn Leon 7-0 after the second round while Kayleigh Haggo is level in her match against South Korea's Soyeong Jeong.

So far so good for the GB women.

Moments ago, Poppy Maskill delivered Great Britain's first gold medal of the Paris 2024 Paralympic Games - doing so in style by setting a world record.

Maskill clocked one minute 03.00 seconds to claim the the women’s 100m butterfly S14 title.

That came after teenager William Ellard won men’s 100m butterfly S14 silver behind Denmark's Alexander Hillhouse.

In the velodrome, ParalympicsGB won their first medals earlier this evening through Daphne Schrager and Steve Bate.

Schrager took silver in the women's C1-3 3000m individual pursuit, while Bate and pilot Chris Latham also came second in the men's B 4000m individual pursuit final.

However, team-mate and four-time Paralympic champion Kadeena Cox crashed out of her time trial final.

Earlier on Thursday, British boccia legend David Smith began his quest for a third consecutive gold in superb style, beating Brazil’s Jose Oliveira 5-2 in the men’s BC1 match at the South Paris Arena.

Great Britain's Bly Twomey and Fliss Pickard have won the bronze medal!

The semi-final against Wenjuan Huang and Yucheng Jin proved a step too far and it's the Chinese pair who move on to the gold medal match after winning 3-1.

Brilliant stuff from 14-year-old Twomey and Pickard, though, to secure a medal on the first day of table tennis action in Paris.

All 11 medal events in para-triathlon will now take place on Sunday amid weather concerns in Paris.

It comes after the Olympic triathlon competitions were hampered by delays amid concerns over water quality in the River Seine.

After a blisteringly hot opening couple of days in Paris, there is a risk of rain over the next few days which could "have an impact on the conditions of the Seine", a statement from World Triathlon read.

The para-triathlon was due to take place across 1-2 September, but all races will now take place on Sunday, 1 September.

A packed Sunday morning schedule will see the first of 11 races start at 07.15 BST, with the final events starting at 11.40 BST and the medal ceremonies at 13.40 BST.

GB have several medal hopes in the triathlon - Dave Ellis and Alison Peasgood were due to race in the men's and women's PTVI events on Monday; those now start at 11.00 and 11.05 BST respectively.

Schoolmates turned GB team-mates and rivals Claire Cashmore and Lauren Steadman will begin their bids for women's PTS5 gold at 11.35 BST.

World Triathlon say swim familiarisation sessons will still take place over the next couple of days, while 2 and 3 September are designated reserve days for events.

Loud cheers, with a pocket of fans singing the Marseilleise, while Patouillet turns 360 degrees to show off her medal to everyone in the velodrome.

A dream come true, to win a Paralympic medal in front of a home crowd.

Great Britain's Bly Twomey and Fliss Pickard have work to do after a fine start. They now trail by two games to one after China's Wenjuan Huang and Yucheng Jin have powered their way to the last two games.

This is now a must-win game for the Brits.

Wow, wow, wow.

Great Britain's Poppy Maskill has won a gold medal and broken the world record in the women's S14 100m butterfly final! A first gold medal for ParalympicsGB at this year's event.

What a race from Maskill, who not only is a gold medal winner, but is now a world record holder.

Her time of 1:03:00 breaks the world record by a third of a second, winning that race by seven tenths of a second.

Hong Kong's Yui Lam Chan takes silver and it is bronze for Valeriia Shabalina of the Neutral Paralympic Athletes.

Next up in the pool is the women's S14 100m butterfly final.

Will this be a first British gold of the Games?

The second game ended 11-6 in favour of China. The second and fourth seeds are putting on a fine match here.

A brilliant race that Ellard had led at halfway, but in a tight finish, he was narrowly pipped for gold by Denmark's Alexander Hillhouse, beating Ellard by a quarter of a second to win gold.

Taking the bronze medal is Brazil's Gabriel Bandeira, who was less than half a second behind Hillhouse.

A brilliant race from Ellard and he comes away with a silver medal for Great Britain.

What a start for Great Britain's Bly Twomey and Fliss Pickard! They lead after winning the first game 11-6.

A reminder that the GB duo have guaranteed themselves at least a bronze medal but a win here bumps that up to at least a silver.

Next up in the pool is the men's S14 butterfly final, where two members of ParalympicsGB are in action.

Cameron Vearcombe will be in lane one, with William Ellard just down from him in lane four.

Their toughest competition could well be Brazil's Gabriel Bandeira, who is both the world record and Paralympic record holder.

In the women's S2 backstroke final a few minutes ago, Singapore's Pin Xiu Yip won gold. Mexico's Haidee Viviana Aceves Perez was the silver medal winner and taking bronze, Angela Procide of Italy.

Great Britain's Bly Twomey and Fliss Pickard come into this semi-final against China's Wenjuan Huang and Yucheng Jin knowing they already have the bronze medal in the bag.

But the British second seeds will have higher ambitions and a chance at gold is at stake here.

Twomey said after the quarter-final win: “It felt amazing. The atmosphere and everyone supporting me. Just to play with Fliss is a massive achievement for me and I’m just really proud to be her doubles partner.

"I tried my best to block a bit of the noise out, but I just tell myself they’re cheering for me. I’m really proud to get a medal at my first Paralympic Games and it means a lot as I’m only 14.”

Bly Twomey may only be 14 years old but she's come to Paris with her eyes firmly on a medal.

She made her international debut in the Costa Brava Spanish Open in March 2023 and two months later won her first international medal when taking bronze in the women’s class 7 singles in the Polish Open.

After finishing fifth in the women's S9 400m freestyle, Toni Shaw spoke to BBC Scotland's Martin Dowden.

"It obviously wasn't the race I wanted, but I've had a super hard year being injured, so just to be here is really special, but I guess I was in a Paralympic final so I’ve got to be happy with that.

"When I finished my race, I saw some of my family in the crowd and without them I wouldn't be here.

"So yes, it was super special seeing them and just all the support that they've given me and it means the world."

On what she can take from the experience ahead of the LA Games in 2028:

"I think hopefully having a smooth four years, fingers crossed, for the next one. Hopefully no injuries, no missing training and I think I'd be in a better place."

In Para-Archery, Nathan MacQueen is currently halfway through the open ranking event in the men's individual compound archery.

At halfway, his score of 347 leaves him in joint-ninth place, with MacQueen going for a place in tomorrow's round of 16.
