There has been a famous face watching the para-badminton in Paris today.

Former Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp is in the French capital to support the Games and his friend Wojtek Czyz.

Klopp told BBC Radio 5 Live that New Zealand's Czyz was destined for professional football before injuring his anterior cruciate ligament.

"It is one story on life, and it’s not the whole story - that’s what I love about him," said Klopp.

"If life hits you with a destiny like that, people can get sour. Not a lot say ‘it happens to me, let’s help them’ - that’s what he did."

Czyz represented Germany in athletics at three editions of the Paralympic Games between 2004 and 2012, but is representing New Zealand in Paris.

Speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live, Czyz praised Klopp for his support: "I am thankful for Jurgen. With his presence we have a better reach."

ParalympicsGB's Kadeena Cox, speaking to Channel 4 after crashing out in the women's C4-5 500m time trial final: "[I'm feeling] not great if I am honest. But, that's sport.

"I went down on my knee which is sore. My MS [multiple sclerosis] - my tone was bad and that doesn't help when you try to ride a bicycle.

"It was a weird one. I didn't feel comfortable in the gate, my right side is my weak side - I just over compensated and couldn't balance on my weaker side, I was all over the shop.

"I thought I might have got a restart."

On coming back from injury: "I got back on the bike two weeks ago. It has been a rubbish year, this time last year I couldn't walk as I had a relapse which affected my right side - I guess that's MS.

"The fact I got here is amazing.

"I wasn't able to qualify for the athletics due to the injuries I suffered.

"The boys will count on me [in the mixed team sprint on Sunday] getting out there and delivering a quick lap.

"It has been a rough week and I have been struggling with my mental health. I'll speak to my psych [psychologist] - I don't want to let the boys down."

Great Britain's Will Bayley and Martin Perry are through to the MD14 quarter-finals tomorrow after winning 11-9, 11-4, 11-9 over German pair Bjorn Schnake and Thomas Rau.

Bayley said after the victory today: “The atmosphere reminds me of London 2012. I was sitting in the stands this morning watching the girls play and it was special. I was just thinking to myself 'I can’t wait to get out there' and it felt special to be out there.

"Tomorrow will feel even more special, playing the best doubles team the French have put out in this competition [the number two seeds]. That’s going to be really exciting and I can’t wait for that.

"I'm so happy with the way we played. We said beforehand we just needed to do what we do and do the basics we'd be hard to beat. We didn’t overcomplicate it and that's what we do, we try to get the win without any drama. We did well to stay on task and we played really well."
