Truro City boss Lee Hodges hailed young goalkeeper Ollie Chenoweth after the White Tigers beat Staines Town 2-1 at Treyew Road.
The 19-year-old, who was re-signed by Argyle last month, joined Truro on an emergency loan as cover for the injured Tim Sandercome.
Andy Watkins scored with two minutes left to seal Truro a first win of 2012.
Mark Nwokeji gave Staines a 65th minute lead before Watkins equalised on 73 minutes and then grabbed the winner.
"Ollie's come in in goal and he's made some wonderful saves," Hodges told BBC Radio Cornwall.
"He really does look the part and all the boys are in there patting him on the back."
The win moves Truro up a place to 11th in the Blue Square Bet South table, 10 points off the relegation zone and 10 points off the play-off places.
