Lee Hodges says Eastbourne loss is a 'low point'

Truro City boss Lee Hodges says the 2-0 loss at home to Eastbourne was one of the 'lowest points' of his career.

Gary Hart opened the scoring after 36 minutes before Nathan Crabb sealed the win with a goal before half-time.

"This is one of my lowest points since I've been at the club," Hodges told BBC Radio Cornwall after the defeat.

"It's something I'll take on the chin, I'm really disappointed, but it's my job now to pick the boys up," he added after a third successive defeat.

And Hodges said defensive mistakes cost his side all three points.

"Aaron Pugh can deal with it. He's let it bounce, it's gone over his head, they've gone through and scored their goal.

"The same with the second goal. Steve Adams had an opportunity to clear the ball, he put it straight through to them and then they go through us.

"It looked too easy, the two centre-halves, who have been brilliant for me all season, just weren't at the races.

"But you can't just blame them, that's when you need help from others and there wasn't a lot of help," he added.

And Hodges has conceded that his side are now fighting against the drop.

"We are in a relegation battle now, the players just have to dig in deep and they have to get on with it.

"Hopefully come the end of April we'll all be smiling, all be happy and still be in this division, that is the main target.

"We've got 11 cup finals starting next week and all we can do is work hard and go again," he added.
