Livingston have given midfielder Stefan Scougall permission to speak to Peterborough United about a transfer to the English League One club.

A six-figure fee has been agreed between the clubs for the 20-year-old.

Peterborough last week failed in a bid for St Johnstone striker Stevie May.

Fellow Scotland Under-21 international Scougall has made more than 60 appearances for Scottish Championship side Livingston but has been sidelined this season through injury.

Scougall came through the youth ranks with Hibernian and Dunfermline Athletic before joining Livingston in 2010.

Should he join Peterborough, Scougall will have fellow Scotsman and former Dundee United midfielder Danny Swanson as a team-mate.

News of Peterborough's move for the midfielder comes as Posh sold striker Emile Sinclair to Crawley Town for £100,000.
