Hartlepool United 0-0 Scunthorpe United

  • Published

Scunthorpe survived a late Hartlepool onslaught to claim their fourth draw in a row and stay in second place in League Two.

Hartlepool started well and Scunthorpe keeper Sam Slocombe saved efforts from Luke Williams and Andy Monkhouse.

Scunthorpe rarely threatened and Slocombe saved well from full debutant Jack Barmby at point-blank range.

The best chance fell to substitute Marlon Harewood, who blasted narrowly wide as Hartlepool pushed for a winner.

"My cup is definitely still half full. Of course we're disappointed, we've had four draws on the bounce now, but I think what we showed everybody today is that we tried to win the game.

"I don't think we could have done any more as a team to try and win the game. Credit to Hartlepool, I thought it was a decent game under the conditions, which were awful.

"It's another point on the board, and we can move on now."
