Manchester City: Roma draw not decisive - Manuel Pellegrini
- Published
Manchester City manager Manuel Pellegrini says his side will fight on after Roma denied them a first win in Champions League Group E.
Sergio Aguero's penalty gave City an early lead at Etihad Stadium but veteran Francesco Totti, 38, levelled.
"Whether we qualify depends on how we play the next games," Pellegrini said.
"We have one point from six but also we are only three points behind Roma. There are 12 more points to fight for - we will fight to the end to qualify."

"Manchester City's squad is awash with talent and yet the players seem unable to cast off the cloak of inhibition when it comes to the Champions League. For a team so packed with experience, assembled at great expense by an ownership of high ambition, City's struggle remains a mystery." |
City, who are looking to avoid a third Champions League exit at the group stage in four seasons, face CSKA Moscow twice before they host group favourites Bayern Munich, then meet Roma again in Italy in December.
City captain Vincent Kompany tweeted:, external "We're better than that, no doubt about it. Back to work and back to playing the game our way."
Roma, who have won all five of their Serie A matches this season, were without injured midfield powerhouses Kevin Strootman and Daniele De Rossi in Manchester, but Pellegrini felt they were still tough opponents.
"When you are playing at home it is never good to just draw but you have to consider that we played against a very strong team in a very good moment," he explained.

"I think the draw is a result that is a real reflection of what happened here. The biggest problem we had was that we lost too many easy passes.
"Roma's performance was not a surprise to me because they are a team in form with great players. It was a difficult game but I still think we could have won it in the last 20 minutes."
Asked about the subdued atmosphere inside Etihad Stadium, which was far from full, Pellegrini added: "Of course if you have a great atmosphere it is always better for the team but we cannot be concerned about the noise the fans give because they always give very good noise.
"I don't think that was an important thing why we didn't win the game."
