Mark Oxley kept 16 clean sheets for Hibernian last season

Goalkeeper Mark Oxley has signed a two-year contract with Hibernian, having spent last season on loan at Easter Road from Hull City.

The 24-year-old made 45 appearances for Hibs as they finished second in the Championship, only to miss out on promotion via the play-offs.

He kept 16 clean sheets and scored a league goal with a kick-out against Livingston last August.

"We've started something here and now we want to build on it," said Oxley.

"There were other options available, but I wanted to continue to be a part of what the manager is building here.

"This season our aim is to hit the ground running and experience a winning start and the fact that we've got that continuity in defence will help us to hopefully do that."

Oxley moved to Hull from Rotherham in 2008 but never played a first team game for the Tigers.

"He is a great age for a keeper and last season's experience will stand him in good stead for the upcoming challenge - he will continue to get better," manager Alan Stubbs told the club website.

"This is another piece in the jigsaw falling into place and another reason to get excited about the new season."
