Truro City would become the first-ever professional team from Cornwall if they go up

Truro City will become a fully professional side if they gain promotion to the National League.

The club need just three more wins to guarantee a play-off place in National League South after a 3-0 victory over Dartford on Tuesday night.

Ollie Knowles, Dan Green and Matt Jay scored the goals as the White Tigers consolidated fourth place in the table.

"If we do happen to get promoted, then National League will mean full-time football," chairman Peter Masters said.

"That comes with its own problems financially as well as we're talking about doubling up on the budget, but we'll see where that takes us," he told BBC Radio Cornwall.

Truro, who gained promotion from the Southern League last season via the play-offs, have three games in hand on the sides immediately above and below them in the table.

"We did it last season against all the odds," added Masters, who bought the club when it was in administration in 2012.

"If you watch the players, the momentum's building, the teamwork's building, they've got a great atmosphere in they dressing room and the players are really going for it."
