Jersey Bulls striker Lorne Bickley says his recent prolific goalscoring form is down to confidence.

The striker has 10 goals in his last eight games and netted a stoppage-time equaliser in a 1-1 draw with fellow Combined Counties League Premier South high-fliers Knaphill on Saturday.

The 25-year-old - who has had spells at Hartlepool United and Kettering Town - has scored 12 times in 15 appearances.

"When you score goals as a striker you get a bit more confident," he said.

"But it all comes down to how we're playing as a team and I think it showed for 60 minutes today we are a really good team and probably up there with the best in this league.

"The goals will come, if we keep plugging away, playing well, training hard, we'll create the opportunities and I need to be up there as one of the lads to score the goals, and luckily today we did that," he told BBC Radio Jersey.

The draw kept Bulls in second place in the division, three points ahead of third-placed Knaphill who have three games in hand.

"Lorne's job as a centre forward is to keep alive and hope that moment comes," Bulls manager Gary Freeman added.

"When that moment came he really showed his quality in that last minute to, under a bit of pressure, keep his cool and slot it very nicely for a great finish.

"That's what he brings to us, even if he's not in the game for long periods he's got that moment that helps us get the result."
