The opening weekend of the Championship delivered on drama and the midweek Carabao Cup action just added more spice to the mixture.

We saw spectacular goals (looking at you, Gustavo Hamer!), huge upsets (hello, Doncaster Rovers!) and jaw-dropping comebacks (Saints fans rejoice!).

This week, clubs such as Sheffield United and Blackpool will be hoping to rectify slow starts, while Sheffield Wednesday supporters will be looking for answers from the club's owner over their dire financial situation.

Here are five things to keep your eye on across the English Football League this weekend.

Sheffield Wednesday have faced a multitude of problems due to their financial crisis

Sheffield Wednesday are one of the most talked about clubs this season and for their loyal supporters it has been a hard listen.

But the Owls have certainly been involved in some interesting contests.

They led Leicester City in their opening Championship game before an 87th-minute winner from the Foxes and their Carabao Cup game against Bolton Wanderers provided six goals and Wednesday's first win of the season in a nail-biting penalty shootout.

They are showing a lot of heart amid the adversity and the Hillsborough faithful will look to bring the same passion for the first home game of the season.

Their protests at the King Power Stadium went as planned and more can be expected on Saturday when Wednesday host Stoke City (15:00 BST) as fans campaign for an end to owner Dejphon Chansiri's reign.

Ipswich and Southampton in second-tier reunion

Ipswich Town are the only one of the relegated Championship teams without a win this season

On Sunday, two teams who were all too familiar with each other in the Premier League last season meet back in the second tier having had contrasting starts.

Ipswich Town host Southampton in the 12:00 BST kick-off and will be hoping to avenge their 2-1 defeat by Saints at Portman Road in the top flight in February.

But the Tractor Boys are yet to win a game so far - scraping a 1-1 draw with Birmingham City on the opening day of the season before a shock defeat on penalties by Bromley in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday.

"Because we've lost a game on penalties, we can't think we were bad, we weren't bad at all. Yes, we should be coming here and winning, but it doesn't mean it's easy," Ipswich forward Conor Chaplin told BBC Radio Suffolk.

Southampton have had a winning start under new boss Will Still, causing mayhem at St Mary's with two injury-time goals to claim a 2-1 win over Wrexham in their opener and then getting past Northampton Town to advance into the second round of the Carabao Cup.

Slow starters Blackpool face in-form Terriers

Not many teams have enjoyed as good a start to the season as Huddersfield Town.

They lead League One after scoring five goals - and conceding none - in their opening two wins against Leyton Orient and Reading and also beat Championship side Leicester City on penalties in the Carabao Cup on Wednesday.

Not perhaps the easiest opponent then for Blackpool to try to get out of their rut against on Saturday (15:00 BST).

The Tangerines were tipped to do well this season but Steve Bruce's side have conceded seven goals across their two opening League One losses and failed to get past Port Vale in their cup encounter on Tuesday.

"When you are looking at the sort of changes we've made, I do believe we will be far better in time but there's no doubting that we've had a difficult start," Bruce told BBC Radio Lancashire.

"I'm not looking for excuses. We've got to be better and I believe we will be but we've got turn it around. We've now got a huge game at the weekend."

Can Foxes and Boro bounce back from Cup exits and Selles get a win?

Leicester City, Sheffield United and Middlesbrough all have promotion ambitions this year but have had a troublesome start to the season

While some supporters have been pleased with their side's start, others have been left deflated.

Leicester struggled past a wounded Wednesday in their opening-day win in the Championship, but after being humbled by the Terriers in the Carabao Cup, will aim to stabilise when they visit Preston North End on Saturday (15:00 BST).

Another club wanting to cast aside some cup trauma are Middlesbrough, who succumbed to a 4-0 home drubbing by League One Doncaster Rovers after an edgy 1-0 Championship win over Swansea City in their season opener.

Boro face a tough challenge at Millwall, who have won their opening two matches, on Saturday (15:00 BST) while Sheffield United will be searching for their first win of the season against the Swans.

Ruben Selles' start as Blades boss has not gone to plan as yet following a thumping 4-1 home defeat by Bristol City and a 2-1 Carabao Cup loss to Birmingham City, despite a stunning goal from the centre circle from Gus Hamer.

Barren Barrow chasing first goal

There are 10 teams without a league goal across the EFL but considering Cheltenham went 12 games without one a few years back, fans might not be too worried just yet.

However, nine of those 10 managed to find their scoring boots in Carabao Cup action in midweek: Blackburn Rovers, Coventry City, Oxford United, Swansea City, Watford, Reading, Shrewsbury Town, Cheltenham Town and Barnet.

The exception was Barrow.

They've lost all three games so far and are the only EFL team still chasing a goal as they aim to change that when they host Notts County on Saturday (15:00 BST).

However, boss Andy Whing is feeling positive after their battling 1-0 defeat by Championship side Preston North End in the Carabao Cup.

"I can't keep saying it will be fine, we need to start getting results," Whing told BBC Radio Cumbria.

"We still need to be better in front of goal, we have to eradicate mistakes, but performance-wise we are getting there. We are getting better and better."
