Truro City manager John Askey says under-10s players could have scored some of the chances his side missed in their 2-0 loss to Eastleigh.

The Spitfires scored twice in five minutes at the end of the first half having seen the hosts miss a host of opportunities to take the lead.

The loss - which came after an impressive 5-0 win over Morecambe on Saturday - keeps Truro second from bottom of the National League, five points adrift of safety.

"First half, I was hoping I was going to come in and say 'well played' and be two or three up," Askey told BBC Radio Cornwall.

"But we can't afford to miss the chances that we made and that's cost us.

"Having said that, if you're not scoring then you've got to defend better than what we did for the two goals.

"Other than that I don't think Eastleigh have really had a chance, and then when they have got the two goals they made it very difficult for us and we've struggled to get a goalscoring opportunity after that.

"But you can't miss the chances that we've missed today. You'd expect under-10s players to score one or two of the chances that we've missed today."
