  3. Docherty not giving up on Europepublished at 17:55 British Summer Time 4 May

    FT: Dundee 1-3 St Mirren

Dundee boss Tony Docherty is disappointed with his side's head-to-head defeat by Euro qualification rivals St Mirren.

"Hugely disappointing," he tells BBC Scotland. "I've got to give credit to St Mirren, they were excellent from minute one and they realised the importance of today.

"I can't be too critical of my players, because they've got us to this position, but there are regrets there because we didn't turn up today in what was a hugely important game. I can't level that at my players for most of this season, but today we didn't turn up.

"I've challenged them there - how do we react to that? St Mirren are celebrating already. There's five points in it with nine to play for. That's the challenge for the group."

  4. 'We'll learn and push on' - Naismithpublished at 17:52 British Summer Time 4 May

FT: Celtic 3-0 Heart of Midlothian

Hearts head coach Steven Naismith takes some positives from his side's defeat by Celtic.

"The result's disappointing, poor and frustrating, but in the performance there was loads of good stuff," he tells BBC Scotland.

"You need to try to stop the atmosphere building here at this time of the season. Our reaction was good, we created better chances than we did when we won 2-0 here. But we shoot ourselves with the second goal. Small margins are the difference in the game.

"We've had a really good season, we'll learn from these mistakes. In the next few games and next season, we'll hopefully push on."

  5. 'Serious planning starts for next season'published at 17:50 British Summer Time 4 May

    FT: Motherwell 4-1 Livingston

Livingston manager David Martindale insists he and his players have "been able to mentally prepare for this day for a long time now" after defeat by Motherwell confirmed relegation.

"This was a high probability that this was going to happen," he tells BBC Scotland. "Serious planning starts for next season now, I've already started planning.

"We're the architects of our own downfall. We've not been good enough, but there's been huge moments that have gone against us.

"Today, I think there's three decisions from VAR. The decisions today were baffling.

"I've got to take responsibility, I don't want to sit here playing technology or players. I've obviously underperformed, the group's obviously underperformed.

"We've never been in the Premiership for six years. We've done that. We broke history, it's really important that doesn't get lost.

"We've had a couple of top-six finishes, a cup final. Hopefully there's a bit of realism applied to it."

  6. Some Buddies players reject new dealspublished at 17:47 British Summer Time 4 May

    FT: Dundee 1-3 St Mirren

Stephen Robinson also addresses the question about possible summer departures from St Mirren.

"Anybody that is out of contract has been offered [one] that we want to keep," he says. "Some have turned it down, but there's only a certain level we can go to as a club and we have to be prudent.

"We've made our best offers and some have said that's not enough. I have nothing but respect for the boys that have done that because they've still done everything in their power to get us into Europe."

  7. 'Outstanding but nothing guaranteed'published at 17:45 British Summer Time 4 May

    FT: Dundee 1-3 St Mirren

St Mirren manager Stephen Robinson says his side were "outstanding from start to finish" in beating Dundee but insists "nothing is guaranteed" in the race to qualify for European football.

"To a man, we were excellent," he tells BBC Scotland. "We've not been out of the top four or five for about 35 games, so it's no surprise to me.

"We're dragging every last bit out of this group and they're dragging every last bit out of themselves. It's certainly a step in the right direction."

Robinson praised goalscoring defenders Alex Gogic and Scott Tanser.

"People told me Alex is a better centre midfielder, but he plays centre-half for his country," he adds. "We knew he'd get better as the season went on. Among others, he was fantastic today."

  8. Dons please stand-in boss Andersonpublished at 17:40 British Summer Time 4 May

    FT: Aberdeen 1-0 St Johnstone

Aberdeen secured a narrow win despite caretaker manager Peter Leven missing out after being rushed to hospital.

Coach Scott Anderson took charge for the win over St Johnstone and tells BBC Scotland: "We're pleased to win the game and another clean sheet.

"I don't think there was a lot in the game in the first half, but in the second, we had much more control.

"Can we improve? Absolutely and we'll look to do that over the course of the last three games.

"We want to finish as high as we can within the bottom six."

  9. Well 'excellent' since turn of year - Kettlewellpublished at 17:36 British Summer Time 4 May

    FT: Motherwell 4-1 Livingston

    Stuart KettlewellImage source, SNS

Motherwell manager Stuart Kettlewell tells BBC Scotland: "To score four goals, you're doing something well. Goals two and three are up there, as good as it gets.

"The second goal is absolute magic from Sam Nicholson. I just felt he stepped up, not just his goal but his all round play. Sometimes we go early on goal of the season contenders, because that one is right up there.

"There was moments in the game today when I thought our football was fantastic. It wasn't sustained enough.

"We've not achieved anything. We want to be a football club that's higher than we are at this moment in time.

"What we have done is stood together during some really tough times. I think our form's been excellent since the turn of the year."

  10. 'It's going to be on fire here next weekend'published at 17:34 British Summer Time 4 May

FT: Celtic 3-0 Heart of Midlothian

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers says the win over Hearts was "very pleasing".

"There was real energy in the stadium and the supporters were brilliant for us - the players responded to that," he tells BBC Scotland.

"What really pleased me today was, in a big game, we had big performances and big contributions from those players. That sets us up well for next week."

Rodgers suggests "it's going to be on fire here next weekend" in a potential title decider against Rangers.

As for Kyogo Furuhashi's two goals, he adds: "The first one, he's so alive. He scores with a great header. Second is an incredible finish, what a pass by Matt O'Riley. That's Kyogo's strength, playing on the last line."

  11. Levein has faith in second-bottom Saintspublished at 17:29 British Summer Time 4 May

    FT: Aberdeen 1-0 St Johnstone

St Johnstone manager Craig Levein tells BBC Scotland he is still confident his side can avoid a relegation despite dropping into second-bottom place after defeat in Aberdeen.

"It is important we put that to one side and forget about it," he says. "We've played the two best teams in the bottom six and we've got Livingston, Ross County and Motherwell to play.

"Tough challenges, but I think we can get nine points."

As for the game at Pittodrie, he though "it was a game of two halves".

"I thought the first half we were really good," Levein says. "We had chances and we didn't take them. Second half we weren't so good - I thought Aberdeen were better.

"The game, which wasn't a classic, was decided by a penalty and, having seen it again, I think it was soft. If it was us, I'd be asking for a penalty, but I do think it was soft.

"TWe had chances in the first half. We had to raise our performance in the second half, but we didn't do that."

  12. 'Should Forrest be on the plane?'published at 17:25 British Summer Time 4 May

FT: Celtic 3-0 Heart of Midlothian

Veteran winger James Forrest was again prominent as Celtic beat Hearts.

Sportsound pundits seem to be unanimous in thinking that the 32-year-old has done enough for a late recall to the Scotland squad in time to be part of Steve Clarke's squad for the Euro 2024 finals.

Do you agree? Thumbs up for yes, thumbs down for no below.

  13. Stranraer face East Kilbride play-offpublished at 17:22 British Summer Time 4 May

    Scottish League 2

Stranraer, Scotland's third-oldest club, will face a play-off against Lowland League champions East Kilbride to extend their 75-year stay in the senior leagues.

The Stair Park side defeated League 2 champions 2-0, but it was not enough to take them off the bottom as Clyde also won, 3-0 away to Elgin City.

At the top, Peterhead finish runners-up after beating Dumbarton, who drop to fourth.

Spartans' win away to East Fife means they will take on Peterhead in the League 1 play-off semi-final.

Dumbarton take on Stirling, who finished second bottom in the league above.

  14. Champions Bairns end season unbeatenpublished at 17:17 British Summer Time 4 May

    Scottish League 1

Falkirk completed the third-tier season without a league defeat - but they left it late!

Two goals from veteran former Bairns striker Conor Sammon for derby rivals Alloa threatened to spoil the party.

But Brad Spencer's late penalty equaliser sparked celebrations among the champions' 7,000 fans.

Alloa head for the play-off semi-final against Hamilton, while Montrose will take on Inverness Caledonian Thistle.

At the bottom, Stirling face a play-off semi-final against Dumbarton, who finished fourth in League 2, after being held by Annan, who had the better goal difference.

  15. Premiership permutationspublished at 17:09 British Summer Time 4 May

    Scottish Premiership

So what does that all mean for the Premiership?

Well, Celtic have moved six points clear of Rangers at the top ahead of their city rivals' game against Kilmarnock tomorrow.

Killie are assured of European football after Dundee's defeat by St Mirren.

At the bottom, Aberdeen are safe from relegation. Motherwell are too because of a massive goal difference advantage.

Ross County's win over Hibs moves them above St Johnstone, who drop to second bottom, while Livingston are definitely relegated.

  18. Discontent in Dingwall?published at 17:01 British Summer Time 4 May

    FT: Ross County 2-1 Hibernian

Head coach Nick Montgomery and the whole Hibs squad appeared to be deep in discussion with the travelling away support that followed the team up to Dingwall.

You can't imagine the fans were too pleased with a sucker-punch defeat like that.

  19. FULL-TIME Dundee 1-3 St Mirrenpublished at 17:00 British Summer Time 4 May

St Mirren keep themselves in the hunt for fourth place with a comfortable win over below-par Dundee as they move closer to European qualification.

Alex Gogic put the visitors ahead at Dens Park, before second-half strikes from Scott Tanser and Toyosi Olusanya.

Michael Mellon did get one back for Dundee late on, but it was a disappointing display from Tony Docherty's side.

  20. FULL-TIME Motherwell 4-1 Livingstonpublished at 16:57 British Summer Time 4 May

And there it is. Livingston are relegated to the Championship after a six-year stint in the top flight.

Despite Joel Nouble's late consolation, the lack of guile and stability that has haunted them all season was again evident at Fir Park.

Take nothing away from Motherwell. A cracking performance, with Theo Bair scoring twice, as well as Sam Nicholson's screamer and a bundled finish by Dan Casey.
