Haaland? Humble? Don't remember him being so humble when he pretended to not know who Lewis-Skelly was or when he started an argument with Arteta and his staff after a game. Great player but humble he is not.

Man City v Borussia Dortmund (Wed, 20:00 GMT)

    Manchester City

Manchester City forward Erling Haaland on Pep Guardiola's comments describing him as "humble" and whether he has worked on it: "Not for me, it is completely normal. "I think you can always get better in things and with headers I think you can get better. I think you can always get better and better so it is something I try to practise still and you can see that I'm getting better and better but there is still along way to go."

On helping out with defensive headers: "It's not the nicest thing. I always prefer to be in the other box. But anything to help the team."

    Manchester City

Right, time for Manchester City forward Erling Haaland.

He started on his form this season and whether he can beat his current record: "Which record? Not to sound arrogant."

In total: "I had 57 in total, including with the national team [in the 2022-23 season]. I am in a good way but I don't think of this."

On whether he just takes it game by game: "Yes, definitely. Two days ago we had a game and that's history now. We need to focus on tomorrow and that's how my brain works. That's how I need to think because I cannot think too much. I need to think in the present."

    Manchester City

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola on Erling Haaland's personality and his YouTube channel: "He is part of the new generation. The old generation like you and me - the social media is completely different. The new generation grew up from little babies have grown up with it as part of their lives. He just has to be alert that's all. Don't show much. But he can do whatever he wants as long as he respects the club, it is part of his private life."

We are getting to the end of Pep Guardiola's quotes now, but stick with us as we bring you the best of Erling Haaland's news conference.

The Norway striker was on great form and had plenty to say.

After Erling, it is over to Chelsea for the latest before their game against Qarabag.

Apologies for the mistake earlier, I was getting ahead of myself. Chelsea's next match in the Champions League - on 25 November - is at home to Barcelona. As you can tell, I am already getting excited about that one!

  8. 'I am happy that Couto is doing very well'published at 13:02 GMT

Man City v Borussia Dortmund (Wed, 20:00 GMT)

    Manchester City

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola on Yan Couto, who was part of the City squad until this summer: "I am happy that he is there. He came he so young after making an incredible impact with Girona. 9. Teams that control possession 'survive' these busy periodspublished at 12:58 GMT

Man City v Borussia Dortmund (Wed, 20:00 GMT)

    Manchester City

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola on Erling Haaland's defensive traits: "I always try to organise the team to allow him to run as less as possible. He is so big and cannot play 90 minutes every three days and make the big actions. I don't want that.

"I always think of the teams every three days and manage to control the ball through the passes and can handle the game the way you want to - you survive. Less injuries also.

"But when that is not possible, he has to help us and he is helping us."

  10. Fatherhood has given me balance - Haalandpublished at 12:56 GMT

Man City v Borussia Dortmund (Wed, 20:00 GMT)

    Manchester City

Manchester City forward Erling Haaland has spoken candidly about how fatherhood has changed him - giving him more "balance" and allowing him to "focus" on something other than football.

He added that the Manchester City players are "motivated", ready for what is next and know they need to keep improving.

And has been speaking about how much he "hates being offside".

  11. 'Difficult to find a world-class player that is humble like Haaland'published at 12:54 GMT

Man City v Borussia Dortmund (Wed, 20:00 GMT)

    Manchester City

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola on what he saw in Erling Haaland's character to make him one of the captains in the squad: "It is difficult to find a real, real world-class player that is incredibly humble and thinks what is the best for the team.

"It is difficult to find. When a player has this kind of ability and the talent and generosity and kindness, whatever you want to say and Erling is like that.

"Normally a striker just thinks of goals, goals, goals. Of course he has to score goals, that is obviously clear. But he signed a contract for 10 years and the more he is involved in many things will be better for him and the club."

  12. Guardiola on 'adapting' during the busy winter periodpublished at 12:52 GMT

Man City v Borussia Dortmund (Wed, 20:00 GMT)

    Manchester City

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola on how he juggles the team set-up around the busy winter period: "We handle the intensity. When you play one game a week it is so different than playing three times. Things are very good most of the time but playing once a week is completely different.

"The most important thing is not just how many minutes you play on the pitch, how many minutes in the meeting room and the physicality. From my experience the teams that play every three or four days - the energy in the moment of the game but sometimes you have to train a little bit to understand what you have to do otherwise it is not possible. You have to adapt."

City will be there or thereabouts in all competitions this season. If some other players (than Haaland) start chipping in with goals then who knows. I'm a City fan and right now Arsenal look too strong in the Premier League but a cup or two is very much possible.

    Manchester City

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola on Erling Haaland facing his old side: "It is not the first time. When he was there he played against us once or twice too. I think he is going to do the press conference so it is a perfect question for him."

On whether it was always an easy decision to sign Haaland: "I played with false-9s with [Lionel] Messi. I played with false-9 with [Robert] Lewandowski, I played that way with Sergio Aguero and here with Phil Foden and now with Erling we cannot play that way because he is too good."

  20. 'Maybe I have not been clear enough...'published at 12:40 GMT

Man City v Borussia Dortmund (Wed, 20:00 GMT)

    Manchester City

Manchester City boss Pep Guardiola was asked if he feels better prepared for the new format this season: "Maybe I have not been clear enough like I have said a thousand, million times. It is not about being not prepared last season. Last season we were injured. Fifty-percent of the squad were injured during months and months and especially during that period when there are a lot of games.

"Of course we are prepared for the format and for the old one. We will be ready. It is just last season, we had a lot of problems in terms of not having players and that was more difficult."
