On Dortmund having an extra day's rest: "We are used to it. It is what is. Nobody is going to change the schedule. In Germany, in France, all the teams in the Champions League they try and play on Friday to get more [rest]. I don't like it but it is what it is."

Man City v Borussia Dortmund (Wed, 20:00 GMT)

    Shamoon Hafez
    Football news reporter

Manchester City have made the decision to cancel Tuesday's training session before their Champions League match against Borussia Dortmund on Wednesday.

Uefa's cribsheet for matchday four of the competition stated City's training was scheduled to take place at 15:00 GMT.

It is understood the players had a session on Monday but boss Pep Guardiola decided to give the players a day off before their European clash at Etihad Stadium.

Dortmund beat Augsburg in the Bundesliga on Friday, meaning they have 48 hours more rest than City for the game, which may have come into Guardiola's thinking when making the decision.

For Champions League games, the first 15 minutes of training is open to the media, before the doors, windows and cameras are shut off for the remainder of the session.

Great performance against Bournemouth, but City have the fourth best squad after Liverpool, Arsenal and Chelsea, so with Pep's magic touch a top-three finish is a realistic aim in the Premiership. However, one of the three knockout trophies, even the Champions League, is a distinct possibility this season.

  9. Haaland continues Dortmund form with Man Citypublished at 12:21 GMT

Man City v Borussia Dortmund (Wed, 20:00 GMT)

    Manchester City

Manchester City's chances of glory could well rest on the shoulders of Erling Haaland.

He has been in blistering form for Manchester City this season, scoring 26 goals in 16 appearances for club and country.

The 25-year-old Norway striker has barely taken a backwards step since signing for City from Wednesday's Champions League opponents Borussia Dortmund in a £51.2m deal in 2022.

He attracted the attention of City's recruitment team with a run of 86 goals in 89 games for Dortmund.

Manchester City began a run of 14 games in 60 days in three different competitions with victory over in-form Bournemouth at the weekend.

Joe Rodon for Leeds, an absolute warrior every single match. Okafor looks the biggest threat offensively, but I’d argue that without Rodon heading, blocking and throwing himself at everything defensively, we’d be in a terrible place. Plus, he’s also our joint top scorer!

    L. Ndiaye is Everton’s most influential player all day long. For a number of years now he’s been far and away the stand out player in a poor team. Jack Grealish hasn’t been there long enough yet to get my vote.

Wolverhampton Wanderers failed to get a win from their first 10 games of the Premier League season, leading to the sacking of former manager Vitor Pereira.

With two points, Wolves are bottom of the table in 20th place.

In terms of their most important player, Brazilian midfielder Joao Gomes has the vote of Dazzling Dave of Always Wolves.

"He shows grit, determination and heart," Dave said.

"He battles and controls midfield, setting the tone with energy and bite.

"Strong in the tackle and aggressive in duels, he wins second balls and keeps play moving.

"He also leads on the pitch, driving standards and rallying team-mates."

The 24-year-old has made 51 progressive passes this Premier League season - more than any other Wolves player.

Thumbs up if you agree Gomes is Wolves' most important player, thumbs down if you disagree.
