Summary

  1. Maresca's options are suddenly very limitedpublished at 12:47 BST

    Brentford v Chelsea (Sat, 20:00)

    Nizaar Kinsella
    BBC Sport Chelsea reporter

Although the 74 charges from the Football Association (FA) imposed on Chelsea were on the minds of some, selection issues will trouble manager Enzo Maresca much more.

Star attacker Cole Palmer has only partially trained, while Maresca fears striker Delap is out for as long as "10 to 12 weeks".

The club estimate remains that Delap could be back in November with an view to be ready for a busy festive fixture period in December.

Chelsea also lost midfielder Dario Essugo during the international break for up to four months, while Brazilians Joao Pedro, Andrey Santos and Estevao Willian are a doubtful due to a long trip back from a World Cup qualifier in Bolivia.

Similarly, star midfielder Moises Caicedo returned from playing in Ecuador.

All those mentioned are either doubtful or ruled out. It remains unconfirmed how fit any of Romeo Lavia, Benoit Badiashile and Wesley Fofana are to face Brentford on Saturday evening.

Maresca's options are suddenly very limited.

  2. Record signing Woltemade to be thrown in?published at 12:43 BST

You suspect Eddie Howe will just be glad to speak about players currently on Newcastle United's books moving forward.

Although Newcastle have lost one of the best strikers in the world, in Alexander Isak, it feels like the club's season really starts now following a resolution to the saga.

Newcastle will at least have some firepower for the visit of Wolves to St James' Park on Saturday after the black-and-whites previously scored just two goals in games against Aston Villa, Liverpool and Leeds United.

New signing Yoane Wissa will miss the match with a knee injury, but record arrival Nick Woltemade looks primed to make his debut.

The German will clearly need time to adapt after never playing in the Premier League before.

But he may have to be thrown straight in - just as Isak was after joining Newcastle in 2022.

Lee: Good to see Toadie from Neighbours still has a great sense of humour. Whoever United put in goal, they will struggle. Like their manager never being replaced since Fergie left, their keeper has never been properly replaced since Schmeichel. De Gea was good, but not brilliant overall.

  9. City's keeper merry-go-roundpublished at 12:26 BST

Man City v Man Utd (Sun, 16:30 BST)

It is all change in the Manchester City goal after an intriguing summer that saw two new faces arrive and one depart.

James Trafford returned from Burnley for £27m and has started all three of Manchester City's Premier League games. However, his position was placed under scrutiny after an error against Tottenham led to Joao Palhinha's opening goal.

Since then Ederson's eight-year spell at Etihad Stadium came to an end when he joined Fenerbahce, with Italy international Gianluigi Donnarumma arriving from Paris St-Germain for £26m.

  10. Plenty to prove on both sides of Manchesterpublished at 12:24 BST

Man City v Man United (Sun, 16:30 BST)

    BBC Radio 5 Live

More from Jack Pitt-Brooke, from The Athletic, on the Manchester Derby: "Both teams by their standards had pretty poor seasons last year and neither of them have started this season especially convincingly, United are actually ahead of City in the table at the moment.

"Both teams need to prove that they are on the right track this season, there is probably more pressure on [Ruben] Amorim than there is on [Pep] Guardiola but it is quite a difficult one to call as both teams come in to it in patchy form."

Jack Pitt-Brooke, from The Athletic, on Manchester City's new goalkeeper: "I think [Gianluigi] Donnarumma is the most interesting one. In Ederson, City had the best footballing goalkeeper in the past eight years and now he's gone and they've gone in a completely different direction. Donnarumma is a brilliant goalkeeper but he's quite 20th century, he's not great with his feet so I'm interested to see how that works."

Pep Guardiola faces the media this lunchtime before Manchester City's crunch Premier League clash against rivals Manchester United on Sunday.

Guardiola looked like he had some downtime during the international break, spotted at the US Open as well as being seen speaking to Tommy Fleetwood on the golf course.

And there will be plenty to get stuck into with the Spaniard as the break added to the squad's growing injury list.

What options does Guardiola have in the forward line? Will Gianluigi Donnarumma get a debut in goal? We'll find out when he faces the camera later.

  14. Amorim to address Man Utd injury and goalkeeping issuespublished at 12:09 BST

Man City v Man Utd (Sun, 16:30 BST)

    Simon Stone
    BBC Sport Manchester United reporter

You never quite know what you will get from Ruben Amorim but there is plenty for the Manchester United head coach to discuss when he speaks to the media this lunchtime.

It is the first time he will have spoken since deadline day, when United lined up deals for Emi Martinez and Senne Lammens before eventually paying Royal Antwerp £18.1m for the 23-year-old Belgian.

Since then, Andre Onana has left to join Turkish club Trabzonspor on loan.

Amorim is bound to be asked for his rationale behind the move and who will be in goal at Manchester City on Sunday.

There has also been no update on the fitness of striker Matheus Cunha and midfielder Mason Mount, who were both injured during the first-half of United's 3-2 win over Burnley on 30 August.

  20. Will Sancho & Elliott become loan stars at Villa?published at 11:43 BST

Everton v Aston Villa (Sat, 15:00 BST)

Aston Villa did, of course, manage to make their own attacking loan signings at the end of the summer transfer window.

Manchester United's England winger Jadon Sancho has been given a chance to rekindle his career at Villa Park, while rising England Under-21s star Harvey Elliott was tempted to leave Anfield for a temporary stay in the West Midlands.

Elliott is set to make an instant return to Merseyside for Saturday's game at Everton.
