Match Facts
This will be the first meeting between Galatasaray and Union Saint-Gilloise in European competition, and the home side’s first with a Belgian team since the 2019-20 UEFA Champions League against Club Brugge (drew 0-0 away and 1-1 at home).
No Belgian side have ever lost against Galatasaray in European competition (P8 W4 D4), while all three fixtures in the UEFA Champions League hosted by the Turkish side have ended in draws (0-0 against Club Brugge in 2002, 1-1 against Anderlecht in 2014 and 1-1 against Club Brugge in 2019).
Union Saint-Gilloise have lost five of their last seven matches in major European competition (W2), although the two games they have avoided defeat in during this run have been away wins: 2-1 v Ajax in February 2025 and 3-1 v PSV in September 2025.
Galatasaray have won each of their last three games in the UEFA Champions League, as many as they had won in their previous 33 matches in the competition (3). They will be looking to win four consecutive matches for the first time in their European Cup/Champions League history here.
After winning their first UEFA Champions League game (3-1 v PSV on MD1), Union Saint-Gilloise have lost each of their last three outings in the competition, conceding at least three goals in each encounter (11 goals conceded in total).
Galatasaray have won their last two UEFA Champions League home games, beating Liverpool (1-0) and Bodø/Glimt (3-1). The last time they won three in a row within the same edition was in the 2000-01 campaign, where they won four in succession and reached the quarter-final stage.
Only Bayern Munich (345:49) have been ahead on the scoreboard for longer than Galatasaray (246:41) in the UEFA Champions League this season. Indeed, the Turkish side have led for 62% of their total match time in the current edition so far (drawing for 24% and losing for 14%).
Victor Osimhen has scored in each of his last eight appearances in major European competition for Galatasaray, netting 12 goals in total. The last player to score in nine in a row was Robert Lewandowski for Bayern Munich, between November 2020 and November 2021 (9).
Half of Union Saint-Gilloise’s goals in the UEFA Champions League have been scored by defenders (2/4), with their last two being scored by Kevin Mac Allister and Ross Sykes – both from set piece situations in the final 10 minutes of play.
Galatasaray’s Lucas Torreira has completed 78% of his long pass attempts in the UEFA Champions League this season (18/23); the second-best completion percentage of any player (min. 20 attempts), only behind Aleix García (86% – 24/28).
