Match Facts
Napoli and Qarabag will meet for the first time in European competition, while it will be Napoli’s first game against an opponent from Azerbaijan.
Qarabag are winless in their six games against Italian sides in Europe to date, suffering defeats in five of those matches (D1). The only two to take place in the UEFA Champions League were against Roma in 2017-18, losing home (1-2) and away (0-1).
Italian sides are unbeaten against Azerbaijani opponents in European competition, winning six of the eight matches to take place (D2), including each of the last four in a row.
Napoli have won just one of their last six matches in the UEFA Champions League (D2 L3), while conceding over two goals per game on average across these fixtures (2.2 – 13 in total). They did keep a clean sheet in the most recent one, however, drawing 0-0 with Eintracht Frankfurt on MD4.
Qarabag have avoided defeat in three of their four UEFA Champions League games this season (W2 D1 L1), after losing four of their six matches in their previous appearance in this tournament (D2 L4 in 2017-18). They have also already quadrupled their goal tally in 2025-26 (8) from that 2017-18 appearance (2).
Napoli have only lost one of their last 19 home matches in the UEFA Champions League (W11 D7), with that lone defeat coming to Real Madrid in October 2023 (2-3); the team who would go on to lift the trophy that season (2023-24).
Qarabag have made the joint-fewest changes to their starting XI in the UEFA Champions League this season (3 – level with Bodø/Glimt), while they also have the most different players (10) to have started every match for their team in the current edition.
Napoli forward Rasmus Højlund has scored seven goals in nine appearances in the UEFA Champions League. Since the start of the 2023-24 campaign, his shot conversion rate (47% - 7/15) is the best of any player with 10+ shots attempted in the competition.
Leandro Andrade has scored in three of Qarabag’s four UEFA Champions League games this season (three goals). Of players with 3+ goals in the current edition, no player has a better shot conversion rate than the Cape Verdean (75% - scored with 3/4 shots, as has Marcos Llorente).
Napoli’s Frank Anguissa has made more high-intensity pressures than any other midfielder in the UEFA Champions League this season (242), while only Enzo Barrenechea (21) has won possession in the middle third more times than Anguissa (17) among midfielders this term.
