If you check out net spend over the last five years and current squad value, it’s pretty obvious what a fantastic job he’s been doing. The team just rolled Real Madrid, there’s not one legitimate Arsenal fan that thinks Arteta should go anywhere. In fact, we’d be lucky to keep him.

    Simon, Glasgow

I didn't see many (any) upset arsenal fans last night at the Emirates. We are on the right track and are certainly making progress. I think most have made their peace with an unfortunate season.

    Billy, London

The reality is, Arsenal won’t get a better manager than Arteta. Who else is there? Hounding him out of the club is similar to what West Ham did with Moyes and look how they are doing now? Arsenal fans need more patience. We can all see he has turned them in to contenders and needs a few more signings.

Arsenal fans will be concerned by the absence of Ben White and Mikel Merino against Crystal Palace, with a crucial Champions League tie against PSG coming up.

Merino, who has been deployed as a part-time striker in the absence of injured Kai Havertz, has four goals and an assist in his past nine appearances.

Full-back White, who has missed a large chunk of the season with injury, had played a full game for the first time since November against Ipswich Town last week.

Asked about the duo, Arteta declined to comment on what their injuries were.

When asked if they would be fit to face PSG in the first leg, he said: "We will have to wait and see as they were not able to be in the squad here."

Leandro Trossard led the line against Palace in Merino's absence and scored his side's second of the night.

Mikel Arteta also urged the Arsenal fans to create another special night at the Emirates Stadium as they take on Paris St-Germain in the Champions League semi-final.

Arsenal had beaten Real Madrid 3-0 in their home leg of the quarter-finals and Arteta said that the supporters will have a big part to play as PSG visits on Tuesday.

"The message is that they have to play every ball with us," the Arsenal manager said.

"So I would say bring your boots, your shinpads, your shorts, your T-shirts! And let's play on Tuesday night all together here to have one of the most amazing nights at the Emirates.”

I see Guy's posts most days on here, and while I often struggle to agree with him, he's absolutely nailed it today. Arteta has so far proved he's capable of nothing but second best. I struggle to see them winning the CL this season as I feel all the other teams execute their style better than Arsenal do. But it is the only thing that can save his job in my eyes as he's started to lull most Arsenal fans into a sense of "second is okay".

@MC, actually the construction of the Sistine Chapel took 8 years, so Arteta deserves at least that.

'Everything went how we wanted' - Glasner reacts to Arsenal draw

Crystal Palace boss Oliver Glasner is hopeful his side will maintain their energy and confidence from the draw against Arsenal when they meet Aston Villa in the FA Cup semi-final.

"I'm proud of what the players showed. We scored amazing goals. I watched many Arsenal games and I can't remember a team with as many clear chances as we had," Glasner told Sky Sports after the game.

"We want to show our identity and personality. It's important to keep this energy and confidence for the semi-final on Saturday.

"It was not our goal to decide the title, it was our goal to win the game. I think a draw is a very good result. More important is the performance. We are back on the track. That's what we need."

The Eagles are looking to lift the FA Cup for the first time in history as they take on Villa, who last won in 1957, in the last-four clash.

Quick, side quest - how long did it take to build Rome?

How much could you get done in five years? A town hall, a few houses, a leisure centre, a couple of bike lines?

Is that enough for a city?

And, if so, does that mean Arteta's had long enough?

Arsenal 'dropped the standards' - Mike Arteta

Speaking after the game, Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta admitted his side should have done better against Crystal Palace in several aspects.

"We are disappointed with the result and performance," Arteta told Sky Sports.

"We didn't find enough consistency in actions to dominate the game. It's part of football and cost us two points.

"It can be difficult. In many aspects of the game we should have done better.

"We require the consistency. [Palace] were very organised and deserved credit. We have to do much better."

"We have the most important game of the season in six days. We need to get our energy back."

Arterta has spent upwards of 500 mn on transfers since he joined the club and has 1 trophy to show for it. Can the club keep justifying another trophyless season basis their injury roster? I mean. Everyone knew he needed a striker. And he didn't get one but decided to invest in players in other positions? At some point you have to question the decision making

Crystal Palace's goals which helped them hold Arsenal to an entertaining draw last night deserve their own mention.

Their first was straight from the training ground as Adam Wharton clipped a corner kick towards the edge of the box where Eberechi Eze met it with a volley that beat David Raya in the Arsenal goal.

With seven minutes left, substitute Jean-Philippe Mateta capitalised on a defensive mistake from William Saliba and chipped Raya from 25 yards.

I’d be over the moon if Arsenal win the Champions League but considering all our injuries I don’t think we need it for this to be a successful season. Seeing Nwaneri and MLS cement themselves in the first team squad is a success for years to come.

As an Arsenal fan, I have to say that if we don’t win a trophy next year he need to go. We went out far too early in the FA and League cup, we never pressured Liverpool in the league. A decent CL run is masking a poor season. Injuries aside we should be doing better. Arteta has some serious questions to answer next year or face the chop.

One thing no Liverpool fan seems happy to admit is it was Rodgers who started to turn things around before a poor season, not letting Stevie go when his legs were long gone. Klopp had tough times too but is sainted. Slot turned Klopp'ss squad into a team able to go the distance in the PL, something Klopp did once in almost a decade. Klopp is an excellent manager but I get frustrated he gets all the credit and none of the criticism.
