Manchester City have spent a lot of time in Villa's third, but they haven't actually caused the visitors too many problems.

Anna Patten and Lucy Parker are working well to close down gaps and Villa are constantly crowding the area to prevent City getting into the right areas.

That has beautifullly exemplified what Villa need to do. A really good strike from Aston Villa from Ebony Salmon, met by a great save.

That was easily the best chance of the match so far and Ebony Salmon is kicking herself.

It's a strong save by Ayaka Yamashita and it looked like Salmon even gave her a thumbs up as the two were stood nearby waiting for the corner.

Manchester City are all over the place and can't get anywhere near her, but Ayaka Yamashita makes a fantastic stop to palm her effort over the bar.

Roord should have more composure there, Villa's defenders do enough to put her off.

Leila Ouahabi is also doing a good job of darting up the pitch and combining with Mary Fowler down the left-hand side.

The two spark another decent opportunity and the ball is slipped to Jill Roord, but she can't strike the ball cleanly and it's a comfortable stop for Sabrina D'Angelo.

Leila Ouahabi is having a really strong game at left-back for Manchester City and is getting plaudits from the fans nearby.

Villa are starting to grow into this game more now though, and Chasity Grant has been a real threat.

Better again from Villa, but it lacks the needed execution. Chasity Grant charges up the middle but her pass out to the right is poor and cut out by Yui Hasegawa.

They're lacking quality at the moment.

When Aston Villa turn over possession, they've got all four of Grant, Robinson, Salmon and Gabi Nunes all getting forward.

Definitely a little better from Aston Villa in the past few minutes.

Paula Tomas puts a dangerous low delivery into the hosts' penalty area, but it bounces around and Villa can't get an effort away.

Good positioning from D'Angelo. A carbon copy for Miedema of the chance she had a few minutes ago. D'Angelo had it covered.

Vivianne Miedema scored a cracker when these two sides met at Villa Park earlier this season.

She takes aim from distance here but her curling effort arcs just wide of the far bottom corner.

It was so tight to the near post. The cut back was all that was on. It managed to just hit Bunny Shaw. Jess Park maybe should have played that a couple of steps earlier.

Nice idea from Jess Park. She charges down the right and tries to cut the ball back towards Khadija Shaw in the middle, but it deflects off a Villa defender and Sabrina D'Angelo catches.

Ayaka Yamashita hasn't been tested yet.

Villa are starting to move forward a little better but still aren't doing much of note in the City half.
