A great run again. The fans thought Shaw had turned it in. There was no reason for that to be off target. She'll be disappointed.

Villa are just struggling to get out of their own half at the moment. Natalia Arroyo has gone with two strikers up front but neither have seen the ball yet.

Both sets of supporters gave a standing ovation and applauded in the 10th minute in tribute of Poppy Atkinson - the young girl who was fatally hit by a car on a football pitch this week.

Close again for the hosts! Khadija Shaw makes a great run, Aston Villa just can't get anywhere near her on the edge of the area.

She turns back, finds a gap and fires towards goal, but it goes just wide of the near post.

It's one-way traffic at Joie Stadium. Aston Villa just can't get out of their own half and can't clear their lines when they overturn possession.

They're keeping bodies back at the moment and just about stopping City getting into the right areas, but they're under constant pressure.

    Man City 0-0 Aston Villa

First effort on target of the game goes the way of Man City.

Khadija Shaw turns well on the edge of the box and slips the ball to Mary Fowler, but her shot lacks power and is stopped by Sabrina D'Angelo.

It's the hosts who've been in charge of pretty much everything so far. Mary Fowler is causing some real problems down the left-hand side and just put a good cross into the box, but nobody was able to meet it.

City have come out of the blocks with good intent.

  8. 'All of the competitions are important'published at 12:29 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March

Man City v Aston Villa (12:30 GMT)

    Manchester City

Manchester City boss Gareth Taylor speaking to BBC One: "We never underestimate any team we come up against, regardless of form. I think we know we can see Villa have got good players and a new coach in Natalia who I know quite well. I think it will take a while to get her stamp on the team, like it does for most coaches but I'm sure once they get that, we will start to see really good things from them.

On the importance of the FA Cup: "All competitions are important and we want to be as strong as we possibly can in all of them and that's the real challenge for us with the squad we have at the moment. We are probably fairly strong today, I would suggest. Probably the strongest, certainly in an attacking line we can probably put out. We know that Kerolin and we think Lily Murphy are eventually going to be very good players for the club and trying to get Jess into the team as well as Nev is a positive.

"Of course Bunny, we're still having to manage her game time a little bit but we're getting her back up to full pace which is going to be really helpful for the team.

"It's already important. I think all of the competitions are important. We want to be really, really effective and in the four competitions we have this month, the challenge of that is really tough in terms of the injuries we have sustained and the players we have to manage, but I think it's great.

"We're in the WSL, we have a cup final next week. We have the quarter-finals of the Champions League, there's a lot going on and we want to get into the semi-final of this competition because it's a magical competition.

On not facing Chelsea today: "It's not too far around the corner."

  9. 'We've tried to shake some things'published at 12:26 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March

Man City v Aston Villa (12:30 GMT)

    Aston Villa

Aston Villa boss Natalia Arroyo speaking to BBC One: "When the teams are not getting results, they are always facing the frustration and not finding themselves in the high confidence levels to play your best all the time. The games aren't helping you and you are feeling weaker, all of that mixed together. I think we just need one good performance and to believe in ourselves. Hopefully today can be the day to show ourselves and that we're better than we are performing."

On team news: "We tried to shake some things to find other options. We also have good names on the pitch. We need players running in behind. We have good examples with Sean in charge against them and we try to do that today. We hope this can help us to win."

On dropping Rachel Daly and Jordan Nobbs to the bench: "I know they can help us when they start or from the bench, inside the dressing room they are trying their best. We are all part of trying to be a winning team. We need energy from everyone. When something is not working as a manager, you need some changes. I'm sure they will do their best and the starters as well."

On the match itself: "Super important. We have nothing to lose. Hopefully we can play without the pressure. They are built to get these results. For us, it's something new. Our dream is the semi-final. We want something to celebrate in this difficult season. We can start thinking about Crystal Palace and have better emotions and something to celebrate at the end."

The sun is shining in Manchester and it promises a great afternoon of Women's FA Cup action.

I have just been speaking to some Manchester City fans who believe this is a really important competition for the club this season.

Having fallen down the pecking order in the league, City are keen to progress in the cup competitions.

They have to compete with WSL leaders Chelsea in the Women's League Cup final and Champions League quarter-finals which is not an easy task but they feel confident of victory over Villa today.

City's squad have been hit by injuries again this season but the fans believe they have enough to reach the semi-finals.

    We'll see...

  13. Man Utd already through to semispublished at 12:15 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March

FT: Man Utd 3-1 Sunderland (Sat)

Holders Manchester United reached the Women's FA Cup semi-finals yesterday as they cruised past Championship side Sunderland at Leigh Sports Village.

Sunderland, the only quarter-finalist not competing in the top tier, were up against it straight away when Leah Galton nodded United into the lead after seven minutes.

Captain Maya le Tissier doubled their lead, heading in Gabby George's corner delivery, as Sunderland failed to record a shot on target in a testing first half.

United continued to be on the front foot but Sunderland were given a huge slice of luck when a clearance rebounded back off substitute Louise Griffiths and rolled past goalkeeper Phallon Tullis-Joyce to halve the deficit.

It rocked United for a few minutes but the hosts quickly regained control and saw out a comfortable victory in the end, with Ella Toone adding a third goal in stoppage time.

You may notice that Aston Villa goalkeeper Sabrina D'Angelo is wearing a mask today.

I'm told it's because she broke her nose last Sunday in a collision with team-mate Dan Turner.

  18. Welcomepublished at 12:00 Greenwich Mean Time 9 March

    Hello!

There's no Women's Super League this weekend, but that's because it's time to continue the quarter-finals of the Women's FA Cup.

Manchester United, the holders, have already reached the semis, having beaten Championship side Sunderland on Saturday.

Sunday sees Manchester City, Aston Villa, Arsenal, Liverpool, Chelsea and Crystal Palace all vying for a spot in the final four.

It's an all-top flight affair, but will we see any shocks? Last season's final was the first to not feature Arsenal, Chelsea or Man City since 2004-05.

Palace are in the quarters for the first time, while Villa have only reached the semis once.

We'll be here to keep you updated on all of today's action. Let's get started, shall we?
