Colchester United were unbeaten in 13 games and had won five on the bounce before they were beaten 4-1 at Bradford last time out, meaning they slipped back out of the top seven.
But Danny Cowley's side have the chance to leapfrog Grimsby once again if they win tonight, while the Mariners would open up a four-point gap in the play off spots with victory.
At the other end, Tranmere will be desperate for more breathing room and a win over Cheltenham would move them nine points clear of the drop zone.
As for the Robins, they're not in any relegation jeopardy and a play-off push seems very much a long shot at this stage, though Michael Flynn will still want a strong finish to the season and then and who knows what can happen...
