Summary

  1. Postpublished at 55 mins

    Birmingham City 3-0 Mansfield

A Mansfield free-kick in their own half is defended with a high line from Blues - but how well it works in their favour.

It's soon sent shooting up the other end and when Jordan Bowery misplaces his pass, the home side are there to punish it.

It goes up for a one-v-one battle with the keeper but neither player manages to keep it in their possession, with a Mansfield player bursting through to keep it from becoming yet another Blues corner.

  2. 'Fantastic goal for Birmingham'published at 16:13 British Summer Time 27 April

    Fantastic goal there for Birmingham.

Keshi Anderson against Jordan Bowery is looking like a mismatch he cuts inside and plays in Paik on the overlap, who puts in a good ball and it is a really powerful header from Dowell.

He's got it past keeper Christy Pym this time!

Keshi Anderson is tripped up but the referee allows Blues to play the advantage.

Paik Seung-Ho sizzles it into the box and Kieran Dowell soars like a rocket to knock it into the net.

Good decision from the ref, even better play from Blues.

  4. 'Great strike from Dowell'published at 16:10 British Summer Time 27 April

    Birmingham City 2-0 Mansfield

    Ian Clarkson
Ex-Birmingham captain on BBC Radio WM

Great strike from Kieran Dowell from distance, it looked like it was rocketing into the top corner, good save in the end.

Good football from Blues at the start of the half.

  5. Postpublished at 48 mins

    Birmingham City 2-0 Mansfield

No sleepy second-half start from Blues... nor the Mansfield stopper it seems.

Kieran Dowell is already putting venom into his strike but Stags keeper Christy Pym is able to get a glove onto it to see it out for a corner.

  6. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 46 mins

Can Mansfield respond or do we have new record holders?

  8. A last-gasp equaliser!published at 16:05 British Summer Time 27 April

    FT: Stevenage 1-1 Rotherham

Rotherham were close to being home and dry but alas, Stevenage had something up their sleeve.

Harvey White sent his free-kick deep into the box to seek out Dan Sweeney and the defender used his head to good effect to see it in for a 92nd minute equaliser.

Rotherham weren't able to respond in the few minutes they had left and that was that.

Both sides shared the points but it's likely only the home fans will be feeling content about it.

  9. 'Birmingham will feel very content'published at 16:01 British Summer Time 27 April

    HT: Birmingham City 2-0 Mansfield

    Richard Wilford
    BBC Radio WM commentator

Birmingham will feel very content with what they have done in the first half.

They broke Mansfield down with a well-crafted one-two for the first goal, and then a well-worked Alex Cochrane cross was eventually turned in by Willumsson for the second.

Two other League One teams will be joining Blues in the Championship and one of them has already been decided.

Many thought promotion-chasing Charlton Athletic might pose a few problems for Hollywood-owned Wrexham but as it turned out, the Welsh side were not to be trifled with.

Like Blues, Wrexham's home form has been spectacular this season and an effective 3-0 win sees them safe in second place and celebrating their third successive promotion.

  11. As it standspublished at 15:55 British Summer Time 27 April

    Birmingham City 2-0 Mansfield

Birmingham have 105 points for the season as it stands. Emphatic. Dominant. Unreal.

And, barring a Mansfield fightback, record-breaking.

Birmingham City forward Keshi Anderson (14) scores and celebratesImage source, Rex Features

Birmingham City show they are in a class of their own in a first-half that sees them breaking the League One points record as it stands.

Despite dominating from the off, Blues could only linger around the box like vultures until some clever combination play from Willum Willumsson and Keshi Anderson saw the latter open the scoring.

They then became even more free-flowing, finding a second when Ethan Laird's effort was parried for Willumsson to send it into the net.

Mansfield had one good chance through a strong Deji Oshilaja header but otherwise, this day has been all about Birmingham - as this season has been, really.

  13. Postpublished at 15:49 British Summer Time 27 April

    Birmingham City 2-0 Mansfield

There's three more minutes to play in this half.

Mansfield might have preferred it just be three left in the match.

  14. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 44 mins

    Birmingham City 2-0 Mansfield

The players are having a drinks break and a chat with their managers as Mansfield's Matthew Craig gets some treatment.

The Stags man can't carry on, hobbling off the field with Louis Reed in to replace him.

Bad news for the visitors on a not-so-great afternoon so far.

  15. 'The party is very much on'published at 15:45 British Summer Time 27 April

    Birmingham City 2-0 Mansfield

    Richard Wilford
    BBC Radio WM commentator

The party is very much on for Blues.

A good cross is met by Laird at a really tight angle, it is parried out but straight to Willumsson, who taps it home.

The next few minutes could be very exciting for Birmingham.

  16. goal

He played a key role in the first goal and now he's scored the second.

Christy Pym gets fingertips to Ethan Laird's header but there's Willum Willumsson on the rebound.

He rushes to thump it into the goal and celebrates with a joyous crowd.

  17. Postpublished at 38 mins

    Birmingham City 1-0 Mansfield

Jay Stansfield's magic feet dance around the Mansfield defence to force a corner.

It's taken but, like many of their corners this afternoon, doesn't give anything for the likes Christoph Klarer to get a really good bite on.

He gets a foot on it but it's wild and is well off-target.

  18. Postpublished at 35 mins

    Birmingham City 1-0 Mansfield

Just as I say Mansfield haven't had anything to grasp onto, they've got a corner.

Keanu Baccus delivers but the whistle goes for a Blues free-kick.

How long until they get their next chance?

  19. Postpublished at 32 mins

    Birmingham City 1-0 Mansfield

Birmingham City have had 77% of the possession.

Mansfield aren't getting a look in since that header from Deji Oshilaja.

Also as of right now, Blues are breaking the previous League One points record of 103.

They've got 105, just one short of Reading's EFL record. With two games left to play, remember. Dominance.

  20. CLOSE!published at 27 mins

    Birmingham City 1-0 Mansfield

Oof it could have been a second!

Tomoki Iwata is the target of a high arching ball and nods it along to Jay Stansfield making his way into the box.

The forward strikes but drags it wide, rippling the wrong side of the back netting.

Blues are really finding space to manoeuvre around the visitors now, flowing between them like water.
