Man United supporter here...been telling myself for the past few days that I'm actually just going to enjoy the football tonight - no stress or nerves. Yeah right! I can tell you that's not how I'm feeling right now.

  7. Stat attack - Spurs v Man Utdpublished at 17:41 British Summer Time 21 May

Tottenham v Man Utd (20:00 BST)

    • Tottenham have won nine of their 14 Europa League matches, but United remain the only unbeaten side in major European competition this season, also winning nine but drawing five of their 14 Europa League games.
    • United could become only the fourth side to win the Europa League without losing a single match that campaign, after Chelsea in 2018-19, Villarreal in 2020-21 and Eintracht Frankfurt in 2021-22.
    • This will be Manchester United’s ninth major European final, with only Liverpool (15) reaching more among English clubs. But United have failed to win three of their last four such finals – Barcelona in the 2008-09 and 2010-11 Champions Leagues, and Villarreal in the 2020-21 Europa League – winning the other 2-0 against Ajax in the 2016-17 Europa League.
    • Tottenham have won the Uefa Cup/Europa League twice previously (1972, 1984), while victory here would see them become the second English club to win it three times, along with Liverpool. The only side to win the competition on more than three occasions are Sevilla (7).

Man Utd fan here flying back from Cyprus tonight, so I’m missing the entirety of the game. I’ve a feeling the final score will end up 3-2, but that depends which Man Utd team turn up. We’re capable of going 2-0 ahead and throwing it away, equally I wouldn’t be surprised if Spurs race to an early 2-0 lead and we somehow scramble in a winner in the dying minutes!

  10. 'It's a very open game'published at 17:31 British Summer Time 21 May

Tottenham v Man Utd (20:00 BST)

    Henning Berg
Former Manchester United defender on BBC Radio 5 Live

It’s difficult to say [who will win]. Tottenham are an offensive team that concede a lot of goals, but they do score some. Manchester United are a team that don’t concede too many, but they don’t score too many either.

So if United were to defend well, and then hit on the break, they could do well.

Yet if Tottenham straighten up their defence they have a really good chance. It’s a very open game.

I was 2 in 1984 when we last won it. All I've known is heartbreak in Europe. To say, as a Spurs fan, tonight is massive is a huge understatement. It will be the defining moment of a generation if the boys bring it home... I'm off to the pub in an hour to steady some nerves!

  14. Stat attack - How the teams match uppublished at 17:20 British Summer Time 21 May

Tottenham v Man Utd (20:00 BST)

    • Opta's predictions model says the game will be extremely close - giving Spurs a 50.3% chance of winning. Three of the last four Europa League finals have gone to penalties.
    • Not only have Tottenham won all three meetings between the two sides so far this season, but they have led for 90% of game time. Spurs have taken the lead inside 15 minutes in each game. United have yet to go ahead in any game.
    • Manchester United are winless in their last six meetings with Tottenham Hotspur in all competitions (D2 L4). United have never gone seven without a win against Spurs before, and have also never lost four successive matches against them.

  15. 'We didn't want to miss Spurs being in a European final'published at 17:15 British Summer Time 21 May

Tottenham v Man Utd (20:00 BST)

    BBC Radio 5 Live

Spurs fan Hannah has been speaking to the 5 Live Drive team from Bilbao:

"We are here in Bilbao and we're here supporting Spurs. I'm here with my brother. We have just polished off some steak in a lovely restaurant. It's a big night tonight. Maybe the steak was a mistake because our stomachs are going to be churning with nerves later.

"We've been out since half-past eleven, and have kind of been hopping from bar to bar.

"We have been chatting to the locals, having some fun chats with Athletic [Bilbao] fans. A lot of them are wearing Bilbao shirts, and quite a few of them said they are supporting Tottenham tonight, so it's always nice to have extra fans in the city.

"I think we will head over to the fan park later, neither me nor my brother have tickets, but we thought we'd come out here because we didn't want to miss it. We didn't want to miss Spurs being in a European final."

80-odd of us Spurs fans taking over a pub in Manchester tonight - cannot wait! Might need to barricade the doors and hide though if we lose, but we’ll be making lots of noise if we win!

On the train from Paris, I should be home in time for kick-off. Weird mix of calm and anxiety, what with the lowered expectations from the abysmal PL season and the team doing okay/decent in the EL. It can’t be any worse than they already are. Can they? Hopefully it’s not a turgid affair!
