"Cheick Doucoure is ready to start after two weeks of very good training and Ebs [Eze] would like to be involved in tomorrow's game but I've taken the decision not to take him with us to Villa.

Ruben Amorim is about to hold his first media conference as Manchester United manager.

In recognition of the lack of time the Portuguese coach has had here since arriving, the club is holding it in a small room at the Carrington training ground, as per normal pre-match media conferences, rather than a formal unveiling in a larger facility at Old Trafford.

A consequence of that is that the room is packed - United staff say they cannot recall a media conference here with more reporters and tv crews in attendance, with several journalists from Portugal having travelled here too.

  7. O'Neil faces defining run of games at Wolvespublished at 13:18 Greenwich Mean Time 22 November

Fulham v Wolves (Saturday, 15:00 GMT)

    Nick Mashiter
    BBC Sport football news reporter

Gary O'Neil and Wolves may have finally won their first Premier League game of the season before the international break but both club and manager remain in a precarious position.

Victory against Southampton two weeks ago was vital yet Wolves remain in the bottom three ahead of Saturday's game at Fulham.

They are two points behind Ipswich, who sit 17th, and start a defining run of games with the trip to Craven Cottage.

Bournemouth visit Molineux next weekend before games against Everton, West Ham, Ipswich and Leicester - all teams within reach.

There is no desire from Wolves to part company with O'Neil - he is well liked, respected and there is an understanding about how difficult their opening 10 games were - but if he is to guide Wolves away from danger results need to come quickly.

"We are coming back at home so hopefully we can perform well and start to take our rhythm."

On Rodri being at Saturday's game: "It's nice to see Rodri back. He had surgery and it's normal for him to stay with his family, for the first steps. I think in January he will come back here to make his recovery but from what I hear from the doctors is that it is going really well.

"His mood is good. It's unique in our club, a player to come here and get this amazing award, and it will be nice to share it with our people."

I actually fancy Spurs to get a result tomorrow evening. City are on a poor run, are at home and know that with Liverpool playing bottom club Saints anything short of a win against Spurs leaves them well adrift. All the pressure is on City. Spurs, meanwhile, whilst a turbulent on/off start to the season are only a single win off 3rd place. No pressure whatsoever on getting anything from City away.

  11. 'Just one team has won four Premier Leagues in a row'published at 13:02 Greenwich Mean Time 22 November

Man City v Tottenham (Sat, 17:30 GMT)

    Manchester City

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola on how much the four straight defeats have weighed on him: "When you are here for nine years, with a long time at one club, you live all the scenarios, all the situations.

"You're able to lose four games in a row, but at the same time you're able to win four Premier Leagues in a row. The difference is that most of the teams are able to lose four games in a row in different competitions but just one team won four Premier Leagues in a row. So it's happened.

"Did it happen in one season? No. When you've been somewhere eight or nine years, yeah, both sides of the run can happen."

Man City v Tottenham (Sat, 17:30 GMT)

    Manchester City

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola on why he signed for another two years, rather than just one: "For the weather.

"Mainly, I don't want next season in September, October, November, to be 'is this the last year of Pep? Will he extend again?' That was the main reason, I don't want to be in that position.

"In the end, the contract is there. I would like to stay two more years, but I know that if results are not good it won't be two years.

"It's the same with the players. We have some incredible, legendary players here but you have to perform. if you don't perform, our owner, chairman and fans will say 'what's going on? We have to change'. Everyone is under pressure, with me the first.

"Maybe it's a little bit arrogant but I think we deserve to continue, for what we have done in the last years. But at the same time, we have to do it again, we have to be up there. If we're not, the club has to find a solution."
