Falkirk stayed four points clear at the top of the Scottish Championship after ending local rivals Dunfermline Athletic's six-game unbeaten run.
The leaders drew first blood after 24 minutes. Gary Oliver laid off Dylan Tait's cross to Ethan Ross and, although his effort hit a post, it rebounded off Dunfermline captain Chris Hamilton and into the net.
Dunfermline rarely threatened in the opening period but began asking questions after the break. Neither Lewis McCann nor Craig Wighton could get a vital touch to a teasing cross and the visitors would be punished just before the hour.
A dreadful clearance from defender Chris Hamilton fell into the path of Aidan Nesbitt, and while the goalkeeper stopped his effort, it spilled into the path of Calvin Miller, who made no mistake.
Dunfermline did find a response against the run of play after Lewis McCann headed a David Wotherspoon free kick past Nicky Hogarth on 72 minutes.
The Falkirk defence had to be at their best after a siege of Dunfermline attacks which led to the ball being cleared off the line on two occasions towards the end.
Falkirk manager John McGlynn: "Delighted to win. It was a good game for the neutral to watch and there was plenty of action, plenty of goalmouth action.
"We can play some really attractive football. I really do enjoy watching us.
"But when the players came under pressure, they still managed to dig it out. It's another character which is so valuable to dig out a result when things are going against you."
