The post-Sean Dyche era has failed to ignite in the early stages, it's a rather flat atmosphere inside the stadium with the travelling Peterborough fans making all the noise.

Think we should go for Russell Martin. He played attractive football at Southampton and if he had a better quality team would have got more wins, also go unlucky with VAR deductions against them. Also no compensation fee, high risk but I think it could come off.

First bit of possession for the League One side here but the forward pass is badly overhit by James Dornelly and it sails out for a goal kick. Darren Ferguson doesn't look too happy on the sideline after that.

    Fulham 0-0 Watford

A first chance for Fulham. Adama Traore crosses from the right corner of the penalty area and Alex Iwobi gets around the back, but, under pressure, can only volley wide. Tough chance that one.

It has been disappointing for Peterborough this season.

They have lost 7 of the last 11 and a lot of the players were allowed to leave in the summer.

  11. Postpublished at 19:50 Greenwich Mean Time 9 January

    Fulham 0-0 Watford

Early pressure from Fulham as Alex Iwobi's cross is headed away by former West Ham defender Angelo Ogbonna. It falls to Ryan Sessegnon on the left but his cross goes out of play and Watford survive.

It would be a shame for fans and players, but I really hope Everton lose tonight. Dreadful to sack Dyche a few hours before the tie. And not a word of thanks in their statement for all he's done for the club over the past couple of years. Poor form.

  20. 'I found out today'published at 19:41 Greenwich Mean Time 9 January

    Everton v Peterborough (19:45 GMT)

    Everton

Everton caretaker head coach Leighton Baines, speaking to BBC Radio 5 Live: "I found out today like everyone else.

"The starting 11 I found out today and that was picked beforehand. We have made small adjustments inside of that which we think will help.

"It is a bit different, but it's football.

"This is our job and the players know how to play football and I have been coaching for long enough.

"The message to the players will be, 'produce a bright, dynamic performance that is appropriate for Goodison Park'."

On Harrison Armstrong starting: "He has been working so hard. He has been in and around the first team, he got on at half-time at Bournemouth and tonight is another good opportunity to showcase himself."
