Ronnie Edwards (left) opened the scoring for QPR at the Kassam Stadium
QPR resisted late pressure to comfortably beat Oxford United and move seven points clear of the Championship bottom three.
Defender Ronnie Edwards opened the scoring inside 10 minutes with a close-range header from a corner.
The R's lead was then doubled just before the break as Sam Field's shot deflected off United's Ole Romeny and into the net.
Oxford got a goal back In the second half through substitute Stanley Mills, who headed in moments after coming on.
But the away side burst forward late on, Kader Dembele sliding in Yang Min-hyeok who struck the ball home to wrap up the win.
Defeat leaves Oxford three points above the drop zone with five games remaining.
The home side made a real effort to drum up an atmosphere at the Kassam Stadium in the build-up to kick-off.
A rendition of Hey Jude by the Beatles was played on a trumpet, and flame throwers fired up into the air as the sides came out to loud music.
However, seven minutes into the contest the home support was silenced.
Nicolas Madsen whipped in a corner kick from the left and found Edwards, who nodded the ball into the back of the net from close range to give his side the lead.
It was the 22-year-old's second goal for QPR since joining in January on loan from Southampton.
Oxford were dealt another blow shortly after going behind as defender Ciaron Brown went down and received a lengthy spell of treatment before being forced off.
The away side dominated the opening exchanges with 76% possession after 25 minutes. They looked dangerous in attack and were quick to win the ball back whenever Oxford picked it up.
Just before the break QPR doubled their advantage after a pass was pumped into the box and then headed across goal to the waiting Field.
From the middle, his shot bounced into the net off U's forward Romeny for an own goal.
Shortly after the hour mark Oxford produced a beautiful flowing team move, which ended with a goal that had all of the Kassam believing they could get back into the game.
Przemyslaw Placheta looped a pass down the left into the box, finding Siriki Dembele, who let the ball bounce and crossed first time with his left foot.
Mills made a dash across the goal and met the pass perfectly with his head, glancing the ball into the right-hand side of the net.
The goal gave Oxford new confidence going forward, with Gary Rowett's men forcing the away side deeper and winning back possession well.
But just as 11 minutes of added time was announced, Siriki Dembele lost the ball to Jack Colbeck, who poked it to Kader Dembele on the halfway line.
The QPR forward then laid the ball off to his left as Yang made a bursting run next to him, and the South Korea international struck a low shot across goal and into the bottom right corner to trigger some wild celebrations in the away end.
Oxford United boss Gary Rowett told BBC Radio Oxford:
"The first two goals should never happen.
"You just can't put an abject performance in for 30 minutes as we did. The first two goals we just gave away.
"I don't want to take anything away from QPR, but we just didn't show any energy in the first half, we looked leggy for some strange reason.
"We played like we just didn't have a spark like we had against Sheffield United. I've said all season if you're a good team you have to go again. We didn't turn up with the same aggression or spirit we did Saturday."
QPR boss Marti Cifuentes told BBC Radio London:
"It's been a rollercoaster in terms of emotional demands this season.
"To come here and have this kind of performance after the last three, five games and the disappointment is brilliant.
"We showed great personality tonight."
