Stoke City have picked up six points in Narcis Pelach's first six games as Potters boss.

Nahki Wells scored two quickfire second half goals to earn Bristol City a draw at Stoke City in the Championship.

In a highly-entertaining match at the bet365 Stadium, the Potters looked to have the match under control after Lewis Koumas and Andrew Moran found the target inside the first 15 minutes.

However, the hosts conceded early in the second half with Wells tapping in unmarked at the back post from a corner.

The striker then scored again just two minutes later with another close-range finish.

A point apiece means Bristol City stretched their unbeaten run to six games, although four of those have been draws, while Stoke have now drawn their past three matches.

Bristol City boss Liam Manning continued his period of absence following the recent death of his baby son Theo, with assistant Chris Hogg taking charge.

In the second minute, Stoke wide man Koumas, on loan from Liverpool, continued his fine form for the Potters by sweeping in an acrobatic finish after Eric Bocat's deep cross.

Republic of Ireland midfielder Moran then made matters worse for Bristol City 12 minutes later.

Following a crunching tackle on Tom Cannon, who was a handful for the Robins defence all night, referee David Webb played an advantage that saw Million Manhoef play in Koumas whose cross-shot was left untouched for the onrushing Moran to tap in.

A two-goal deficit though at half-time was slightly harsh on Bristol City who had 18 shots and 10 corners before the break.

They had forced Stoke goalkeeper Viktor Johansson to work on numerous occasions including one superb save which saw the Swede athletically leap to his left to deny a stinging effort from Max Bird.

The visitors were more ruthless, however, in the second half as Wells tapped in a Joe Williams delivery five minutes after the restart, finishing unmarked at the back post as the cross found its way to him.

The former Burnley and Huddersfield man was then given another relatively easy finish as Michael Rose attempted to cut out a pass from Bird into George Earthy and the ball ricocheted into the path of Wells who finished from six yards.

Johansson made another incredible double save in the 69th minute as he blocked an effort from Earthy with his arm and then jumped up to stop the follow-up from the onrushing Mark Sykes as neither side could find a winner.

Stoke City boss Narcis Pelach:

“The start of the game is really good.

“We start fast, we start energetic, we start much better than them. They were passive, the opposite, this gave us the chance to be 2-0 up.

“But then after the second goal, we lost control, not comfortable with what I have seen, so I said to the team at half time ‘it is not good enough, we need to go and kill that game because we are losing control’.

“In the second half we lose even more control. I am disappointed the way the game went, Bristol City are a good side, I was worried before the game, I knew they are in good form."

Bristol City acting head coach Chris Hogg speaking to BBC Radio Bristol:

"It's a mixed feeling around the game.

"There were spaces there in the first-half and opportunities, we were in good positions and the keeper had to make a few saves.

"We just had to tweak one or two things at half-time to allow us to take advantage of that.

"Two-nil down away from home at the Championship, it's very difficult, so I've just got to commend the spirit and the fight from everyone to try and get a point from the game."
