The Republic of Ireland regrouped from a sluggish first half to earn a crucial 4-0 win over Greece in the Uefa Women's Nations League in Heraklion.

Ireland manager Carla Ward's half-time changes proved crucial as substitute Marissa Sheva's deflected shot put the visitors ahead on 49 minutes in the League B Group 2 game.

Irish captain Katie McCabe, who didn't start because of a niggle, set up the second in the 61st minute as her superb cross was volleyed goalwards by Leanne Kiernan and while Greece keeper Zoi Nasi produced a fine save, Kyra Carusa poked in the rebound.

Jessie Stapleton looped in a near-post header over Nasi for Ireland's third after a McCabe corner on 74 minutes while Amber Barrett celebrated her 50th international cap by adding the fourth in the final seconds.

It's a great start for Northern Ireland.

There's some liquid football as Keri Halliday finds Kascie Weir, who can't miss from close range.

Romania are finally having a spell of possession but NI steal it back and immediately charge forward.

There are two changes to the Republic of Ireland starting XI who began in Greece with Marissa Sheva and Amber Barrett replacing Ruesha Littlejohn, who drops to the bench and the injured Kyra Carusa.

Shelbourne midfielder Alex Kavanagh is amongst the substitutes after being called up for the suspended Katie McCabe.

There is just the one alteration to the Alexandros Katikaridis' side from Friday with Maria Paterna coming in for Maria Gkouni.

That's a glimpse into Northern Ireland's future with two youngsters, Halliday and Weir, involved in that one.

That's a great start and a really well worked goal.
