Forward Charlie Reilly makes the bench after recovering from a broken collarbone, but there is no sign of former Kilmarnock goalkeeper Kieran O'Hara after his midweek signing.

For the visitors, former Motherwell centre-half Shane Blaney returns from injury to replace Ryan McGowan, who misses out completely.

Aberdeen boss Jimmy Thelin makes one change to the side that started the goalless draw against Livingston last weekend, as Scotland international Stuart Armstrong makes his first start for the club.

The former Dundee United and Celtic midfielder replaces Sivert Heltne Nilsen in the middle of the park.

One change for Motherwell as well, with Stephen O'Donnell slotting into the right-back role. He replaces Johnny Koutroumbis.

The shape remains the same from the one that faced Dundee, with an attacking trio of Ibrahim Said, Regan Charles-Cook, and Tawanda Maswanhise playing behind Apostolos Stamatelopoulos.

St Johnstone opened up a six-point lead at the top of the Championship after last night's 2-1 win over Dunfermline Athletic in Perth.
