As a 19 year old football fanatic, I was lucky enough to see four games at Wembley during the 1966 World Cup I went to three games - France, Argentina and Portugal - with a local coach company. The owner didn't have enough tickets to run a coach to the final but he had a few to sell! £6 for a 50p ticket was a fortune, but my dear old mum coughed up saying you might never see England in a final again Well, circumstances will not let me be at the match today and mum would be pleased that her son at the age of 77 is still as crazy about football as he ever was. God bless You Mum & GOD BLESS ENGLAND

To be or not to be?published at 16:57 British Summer Time 14 July

I’m here at a fanzone in Brixton where eager fans have been queueing since before 16.00 BST. Spaces are a premium here in the capital, with the 1,000 or so tickets at this particular venue selling out within two minutes.

For those lucky to cop some tickets, they’re starting early. But among these keen punters are a mixture of feelings ahead of tonight.

Max, 27 from Oval has just downed a beer in front of me and I think it’s buoyed his confidence: “England will win tonight and I’ve never been so sure about anything in my life.”

Meanwhile, Liverpool fan James - who’s at the front of the queue, is still haunted by the last Euros where England lost on penalties: “tonight could be the night but I’ll be devastated if we lose again.”

Let’s see what happens. Either way, it’s going to be a big night.

It's been an extremely good day for one England football team already.

At the Women's under-19 Euros, the young Lionesses have crushed hosts Lithuania 10-0 in Kaunas.

You can watch that game back here.

At the Hauptbahnhof in Berlin, absolute chaos- you’d think it was Paddington and everyone was heading to Wembley. Seen my first half/half England/Spain scarf - round the neck of a man in an Argentina shirt… wonder who he’s supporting tonight. I must be the only Englishman leaving the city - off to Leipzig to meet my wife and watch the game at Augustusplatz.

Some early team news breaking from Berlin.

Matt Law of the Telegraph, external reports that Luke Shaw will be starting at left back tonight for England, replacing Kieran Trippier.

Trippier had started England's six games so far at Euro 2024, but was replaced at half-time by Shaw against the Netherlands in the semi-final.

Bellingham's last minute equaliser was when I believed it was written in the stars for the Three Lions. This has been confirmed by Alfie Hewett's first Wimbledon wheelchair singles title over the Spaniard, Martin de la Puente.

I remember watching England in the school gym in 1970... and painfully remember every single defeat since then. They've all been very hard to take, none more so than losing to Italy in Euro 2020. They have to find a way to win tonight. Come on lads, bring it home...please!

Lionesses win at WembleyImage source, Reuters

Hopefully England winning the Euros tonight will have the same impact as the Lionesses winning the Euros in 2022! Because still more young boys and girls still need to get out onto the park and into the game, it cannot lose its momentum. As for grassroots football, hopefully again maybe more money can be put into this area as it's where there are many Watkins and Russos who go by the wayside because of funding.

An average village footballer who played for 30 years and bears the scars of hope and disappointment of watching England in tournament football for 50+ years. Outwardly, I have a cynical indifferent 'well they've done well to get to the final' disposition. Inwardly, I am in turmoil. Desperately want England to win. So scared of the disappointment, frightened of my reaction should we win. Either way, I will probably be a teary mess.
