Ben Priest: It will be the realisation of generations of dreams.

I for one will celebrate thoroughly with my family but there will likely be tears in my eyes seeing a gap next to me where my Dad would have been: he gave me the passion for sport.

It may just be a ball game, but it's how it unites us that makes it so special. I'm hoping for an outpouring of joy this nation hasn't seen in decades.

So proud of the boys, bring it home!

  2. Sessegnon - England have the weight of a nation on their shoulderpublished at 14:38 British Summer Time 14 July

Wigan defender Steven Sessegnon believes the 'England DNA' culture was established around the time he helped win the Under-17 World Cup for England alongside Phil Foden, Marc Guehi and Conor Gallagher in 2017.

England beat Spain 5-2 in that final in India, coming back from 2-0 down, with Foden scoring twice and Guehi also on target.

But other than the opponent, Sessegnon does not see much comparison between 2017 and what is in front of his old team-mates tonight.

"You can’t compare our final to theirs," he told BBC Sport. "It is a completely different type of pressure.

"They have the weight of the country on their shoulders.

"For us, I felt like we were going up against a team we had a rivalry against. We had played them in the Euros final and had something to prove against them because we had lost.

"The mentality was no fear. We had to go at them. We went 2-0 down, so we had nothing to lose and came out fighting.

"For them, it is a different level. I can’t even imagine. Let’s hope it is a lot simpler for them than it was for us."

Chad: I have autism and I've been an England fan for 20 years. I remember the years of Euro 2004, my first tournament watching Wayne Rooney scoring it was the beginning as I was a 14 year old lad with dreams from the good times to the bad times like failing to qualify for Euro 2008 and embarrassing defeats to Iceland at Euro 2016. I've been an England fan through and through. I'm 34 now and I feel the time has come for those like myself who waited.

  4. No team ever dominates an entire tournament: Cooperpublished at 14:33 British Summer Time 14 July

Steve Cooper made history when he guided England's Under-17s to World Cup glory for the first time in 2017.

His side included Conor Gallagher, Marc Guehi and Phil Foden, all in Gareth Southgate's senior squad, while Emile Smith Rowe, Jadon Sancho and Callum Hudson-Odoi also played in India seven years ago.

The Young Lions came from 2-0 down in the final to beat Spain 5-2 and lift the trophy but Cooper highlighted the difficulties of tournament football, with England having sometimes stuttered in Germany this summer.

The Three Lions relied on Jude Bellingham's late leveller and Harry Kane's extra-time winner to progress against Slovakia in the last 16 and needed penalties to beat Switzerland in the quarter-finals, having drawn against Denmark and Slovenia in the group stage.

The Leicester manager said: "You have to do everything to win a tournament. If I think back to the World Cup, we won a penalty shoot-out and didn’t play great against Japan (in the last 16). We didn’t deserve to lose but we didn’t do enough to win in normal time.

"There were times we had to suffer and there were times we dominated. If that’s what it’s like at Under-17 level then it’s definitely like that at senior level. I can’t think of many examples in senior tournaments where one team has completely romped it from start to finish."

Nadeem: My son who is 6 years old has really got into football for the first time during this tournament. He has got his England kit with his name on the back and although his bedtime is usually at 8pm, we have decided to make a special exception for him on Sunday and let him stay up to watch the final. We are backing England all the way and I believe i can truly say that Football is coming home on Sunday, come on you Lions, 1 more step away from glory.

  6. Cooper: Foden is now showing the world his classpublished at 14:27 British Summer Time 14 July

    Spain v England (20:00 BST)

    Nick Mashiter
    BBC Sport football news reporter

Former England Under-17 head coach Steve Cooper believes Phil Foden has always excelled for England and is now showing the world his class.

The Manchester City midfielder shone in Wednesday's semi-final win over the Netherlands, having a shot cleared off the line and hitting the post.

He scored twice in the final for Cooper's Under-17 side when they won the World Cup in 2017 - beating Spain 5-2 in India.

Foden also won player of the tournament seven years ago and, ahead of this evening's Euro 2024 final with Spain, Cooper - now Leicester boss - has always known his quality.

"Phil in the latter stages in the semi final and final of the tournament was just outstanding," he said.

"We played against Brazil (a 3-1 semi-final win) and he looked like the most Brazilian player on the pitch.

"He got man of the match in the final and player of the tournament. It’s good to see him shining in this tournament. You still see so many characteristics he’s always had, a real love for the ball, how he handles it, the decisions he makes.

"He still that boy we had at a younger age but he’s just doing it now with the whole world watching. Hopefully he can deliver again."

It isn't just the fans who have been waiting decades for England's men to end their major tournament losing streak, it's the younger fans who have grown up in a good period of English football.

Since Gareth Southgate took over in 2016 England's men have reached the World Cup semi-final and quarter-final and two Euros finals.

For all the talk of dropping Kane for a poor tournament, if he outscores Olmo tonight he'll finish with the Golden Boot. Funny that.

On the Sunshine Coast in Austalia. Getting up at 4am to watch the game, wearing my England shirt inside out as I have done for the last two games. Not intentionally, but because it was pitch black when I got up for the Slovakia game I didn't realise. Seems like a good luck charm. C'mon England!

Older England fans will be hoping today brings an end to many years of disappointment but imagine being 12 and having seen your country in TWO finals.

That’s the case for young Tyler, who is here with his dad Paul and brother Lewis.

“We have been out for pretty much all the England games,” Paul says.

“We’ve had to go back a few times for school.

“I’ve been going to England games since Euro 2000, so many tough years following them compared to two finals already for Tyler!”
