I am getting highly frustrated by all the headlines saying we could 'make history' tonight. We already have made history; back to back finals in the Euros, first final on foreign soil, a quarter-final, semi-final and 2 finals in the last four tournaments. Our boys have already done us immensely proud, if it does come home tonight then that will just be the cherry on the cake!

    Pundits analyse Southgate

England boss Gareth Southgate (runner up at EURO 2020) will be the third manager to take charge of more than one UEFA European Championship final (excl. replays), after Helmut Schön with Germany (1972, 1976) and Berti Vogts with Germany (1992, 1996), with all three doing so in consecutive editions.

No manager has ever lost two finals in the competition before.

Portugal didn’t win a game in the group stage in 2016, yet went on to win the final. Southgate deserves ginormous credit for building a side with relentless determination. Trust the process.

I remember watching our glorious victory in 1966 on my parents old black and white television. It has been far too long for another! Come on guys make your country proud.

Wigan defender Steven Sessegnon played alongside Marc Guehi in England's 2017 World Cup win in India.

Having operated alongside Guehi at such close quarters, Sessegnon is not surprised the 24-year-old has performed so well in England's run to the Euro 2024 final.

"It is no surprise," he said.

"He came from the Chelsea academy and they are one of the best in the world, so it is no accident.

"He is one of those Rolls-Royce defenders. He can play but if you want him to defend and put his body on the line he is a proper centre-back.

"Keepers must love him because he deals with everything.

"I know I can trust him behind me and next to me to do any job. Fair play to him. He has done everything I expected him to."

If I were in Gareth Southgate’s shoes I would only be making one change to the side he sent out on Wednesday against the Dutch.

That change would be the one Gareth himself made at half-time on Wednesday night and that would be to bring in Luke Shaw for Kieran Trippier.

That’s no slight on the Newcastle United full back, but I believe England have more balance defensively and offer more threat with a natural left footed player.

Whoever is selected in the role will find themselves up against the remarkable Lamine Yamal, who turns 17 the day before the final and will need to be at their best to keep this young superstar quiet - something France failed to do.

The rest of the England team should remain the same. Question marks had been raised about the role of Bukayo Saka, but he’s answered his critics and then some, with his last two performances - crucially keeping England in the tournament against the Swiss with his late strike, before excelling in the semi final.

England have found a system and a shape that suits them and we saw them comfortably showing their best performance of the tournament so far against the Dutch.

There’s no doubt this Spanish side is incredibly talented and can hurt you at any moment and whilst underdogs against the Spanish in Berlin on Sunday, if England play to their full potential there’s every chance this side could make history.

I will be watching England in Bogota with an expat community of over 100 people. We're starting off the day with a party bus to drive around the city blaring "It's Coming Home", much to the bemusement of many Colombians, before we will be welcomed to the pub by a brass band. Hopefully it is a double win in the evening as Colombia play Argentina in the Copa America Final. Come on England!
