Local rivalries dominate football. So where in England is best represented in the 2024 squad?

At 31%, more players in this England squad were born in the North West than any other region.

Of the 94 different players selected for the Euros between 2004 and 2024, more than half came from the North West or London.

The East Midlands is represented for the first time since 2004, with Ivan Toney taking over the region’s mantle from Emile Heskey.

There have been no players from the East for two Euros in a row now – the region was last represented by Stevenage’s Jack Wilshere in 2016.

England in the Euros final on Black Country Day? Of course someone had to get England legend Duncan Edwards involved.

The Dudley-born left half, who was killed in the 1958 Munich air disaster, scored five goals in 18 caps for England and held the record for the youngest player to play for the national team for more than 40 years until 1998 when it was broken by Michael Owen.

I live in Calafell, a lovely town about 30 miles from Barcelona. I have one English friend and we will be watching the game at the local bar during the biggest festival of the year! My 5-year-old daughter is a traitor and wants Spain to win but my 6-year-old boy is on side. Come on England

I'm a huge believer in losing finals being part of the process. France lost in the final of their home Euros before winning the World Cup two years later. As a Man City fan I saw it with us losing to Chelsea in the UCL final. Clearly Spain are the better team with the extra days rest, but we are miles better prepared than three years ago.

Today's my birthday, and rather selfishly I'd almost hoped England wouldn't make it to the final, as I've never felt such a sense of jeopardy. I'm 32 years old and it's all I can do to not respond to some very kind well-wishers with 'Yes, but do we start Trippier or Shaw tonight?'

  16. Plenty of England fans at Wimbledonpublished at 12:39 British Summer Time 14 July

Hello from Wimbledon where England fans Shashimeghji from Slough and Darashnashankla from Aldershot have a problem. They're both huge tennis and football supporters, but don't know if they'll have time to get back to watch the Euros final.

"We're catching Alfie Hewett on court one, all the action from Centre on the hill, and then we'll try and race back to watch the Euros final at home" says Shashimeghji.

Darashnashankla, in her England kit, is worried. "I think it's going to penalties," she tells me.

My wife and I are at the Wimbledon men’s final today. I’m sure it’ll be over by 8pm, but I am a bit anxious on the off chance that we end up with a three hour round of advantages in the fifth set.

Let’s face it, England have played awfully until now, and pretty much throughout Southgate’s entire tenure. And Harry Kane is one game away from becoming potentially the most-decorated second placer in football history. On the other hand, we’ve got through to the final again despite ourselves, maybe fate is in our side? 2-1 England AET with Spain scoring at least one own goal.
