It's all gone a bit quiet in Paris.

Manchester City have enjoyed the better of the opportunities so far but nothing clear cut.

Close! Alessia Russo produces a lovely turn with her back to goal to carve out a good opening after Kyra Cooney-Cross drills a pass to her feet.

She fires a low effort towards goal but it goes wide of the far post.

They have another chance soon after but Mariona Caldentey sends a shot over the bar.

    BK Hacken 0-0 Arsenal

Arsenal play a corner short initially, Beth Mead swings it into the middle, but Alessia Russo can't quite set herself up correctly and her looping header is easily caught by the Hacken goalkeeper.

Laia Codina gets tangled as she tries to track back and they're lucky to escape.

The ball is played through to Clarissa Larisey but Hacken's forward strays offside.

    BK Hacken 0-0 Arsenal

Mariona Caldentey is playing a bit of a different position today, dropping into the middle instead of sitting out wide.

Will it work? Arsenal are playing everything centrally at the moment.

    BK Hacken 0-0 Arsenal

Nearly the commentator's curse already. Arsenal break forward and nearly have a great chance after a lovely pass from Beth Mead which sneaks through the defence.

Alessia Russo runs onto it, but she goes too early and the flag is up.

    BK Hacken 0-0 Arsenal

If you don't remember Arsenal's game against Rosenborg, their opponents sat back and allowed the Gunners to have a lot of space.

Very different tonight. Hacken are pressing them high up the pitch and making it difficult for Jonas Eidevall's side to get out.

Arsenal might not enjoy as many chances tonight.

    Paris FC 0-0 Man City

A good bit of play from Manchester City results in Lauren Hemp pinging the ball into the area from the left-hand side but it's cleared by a Paris FC defender.

Big chance moments later as there's a bit of confusion in the penalty area but Thea Greboval makes a last-ditch header to clear the danger. Paris FC were lucky there was no one in a City shirt lingering at the far post.

Mary Fowler gives the ball away in the middle of the park and Clara Mateo gets herself on a run. She lays it off for Mathilde Bourdieu on her right but the France forward's effort is tame and straight into the gloves of City keeper Ayaka Yamashita.

A pretty tame start in the evening Paris sunshine.

Manchester City look to try and dominate the early exchanges as Leila Ouahabi sends in a lovely through ball from midfield but Lauren Hemp's touch is too heavy and it goes out for a goal-kick.

Manchester City forward Lauren Hemp said the club are "ready to make a statement" in the Women's Champions League.

Last season's Women's Super League runners-up will play Paris FC across two legs, with the winner advancing to the group stage.

City are playing in the Champions League for the first time since 2022 after failing to qualify last season.

Hemp, 24, said: "I obviously signed for City because I wanted to win trophies. I believe this is a club that can go on to do that.

"We have big ambitions to win this season across all of the competitions. We have learned from previous years the difference we need to make."

City have reached the Champions League semi-finals twice, last doing so in 2018.

"We have got so many experienced girls in the squad that have been in World Cup finals and Champions League games at later stages, so we know what it takes to win," Hemp said.

"We’re all feeling fresh and ready to go and to make a statement in the Champions League."

  20. Hacken a 'brave' teampublished at 17:35 British Summer Time 18 September

BK Hacken v Arsenal (18:00 BST)

Arsenal's opponents BK Hacken reached the quarter-finals of the Champions League last term before being knocked out by Paris St-Germain.

They got out of a group stage which included Chelsea, Real Madrid and Paris FC.

Arsenal boss Jonas Eidevall, who has faced Hacken before when he managed Rosenborg in Sweden's top flight, said he isn't underestimating their strength.

"They're a brave team," said manager Jonas Eidevall. "I think they've shown that in the Champions League as well, that they're good enough to play their brand of football against top teams in Europe.

"They like to challenge their opponents and I expect nothing less from them tomorrow night."
