  1. Taylor hopes summer signings will boost squad depthpublished at 17:32 British Summer Time 18 September

Paris FC v Man City (17:45 BST)

Manchester City had a busy summer transfer window, bringing in six new players and boss Gareth Taylor believes the squad depth will help his side this season.

"We understand the challenges in front of us and it will be tough but it is not just in the Champions League, but in general [squad depth] will help us a lot," said Taylor.

"We have been open and honest about last season and how well we did as a team. Towards the end of the season when we lost key players that strength in depth probably wasn’t there.

"We’ve tried to fix that this summer and we’ve probably got more attacking options at the top end of the pitch to change some game moments."

Taylor is not worried about a fixture pile-up however, and is excited about the prospect of more games.

"We want to be in that situation where we’re in the Champions League and hopefully playing a game every three or four days," he said.

"We want many players who are capable of playing in each game. The team will change no doubt if that situation arises because it’s really difficult - that level of game you are playing is really physically demanding."

Paris FC v Man City (17:45 BST)

Manchester City have struggled in Europe the last few seasons.

They did not feature in the 2023-24 campaign and went out to Real Madrid the previous year thanks to former City player Caroline Weir coming back to haunt them with a goal that knocked them out in the first round of qualifying.

This time around they enter the fray at the second round of qualifying having finished second in the league last season.

Can they finally break the streak?

So the big news is hat Manchester City are without club record goalscorer Khadija Shaw after the club failed to file a visa application.

Jamaica international Shaw, 27, last season's Women's Super League top scorer, was unable to travel for the first leg of the second-round qualifying match, BBC Sport understands.

City, who are confident no future visa issues will occur, failed to file an application and attempted to get a late visa, but their request was denied.

Shaw became Manchester City Women's record scorer when she hit her 68th goal in only her 82nd game for the club in March. She joined City from Bordeaux in 2021.

She won the WSL and Football Writers' Association player of the season awards following a stellar individual 2023-24 season.
