Obviously Liverpool are flying right now but there is no way they finish the season with one loss. I think they’ll still win it but it’ll be much closer than it looks now.

Brighton v Arsenal (Sat, 17:30 GMT)

"We just try to continue our work because we think we are on the right way, we are able to beat everyone, we showed it in the last games that despite the bad results, we had some really good performances, that's what I always say - trust the process. We are on the right way."

Let's hear what Hurzeler has had to say about the task facing his Brighton side this weekend...

You could argue Liverpool need a striker too. Nunez fails to score consistently, Jota is always injured, and the main scorers are all wingers by trade. But who's available for them and Arsenal to buy? That's the bigger question...

The Arsenal "need a striker debate" gets louder whenever we struggle to break down a well organised defence, yet we scored 89 goals in 2024 with only Liverpool scoring more (92 from one game more). Is it really a problem?

Arsenal fans wishing Arteta would buy a striker fail to understand how he operates. And no they will not win the title or CL this year or any other whilst he is in charge. Another stubborn manager.

Liverpool may be flying high, but let’s not hand them the title just yet. Arsenal could easily crash the party at Anfield later this season. Remember, Liverpool haven’t beaten them in the league for two years. Favourites? Sure. Invincible? Hardly.

  14. 'Real weigh up second bid for Trent'published at 09:36 Greenwich Mean Time 2 January

    Thursday's newspapers

    The Times

The story surrounding Trent Alexander-Arnold's potential move from Liverpool to Read Madrid has moved into a new phase following the opening of the January transfer window.

The England full-back, who is out of contract in the summer, is now free to sign a pre-contract agreement with non-English clubs, with a view to completing a free transfer in the summer.

But it seems that the European champions are keen to move sooner. Reports suggest Liverpool have already turned down one offer to sell Alexander-Arnold in January, but the Times reports that Real are now considering making a second approach.

I think the only way Liverpool lose the title is if there is some massive prolonged distraction, like the manager announcing his resignation, or their three best players not being offered new contracts. Should be fine then…

Tim, Southport: In answer to the question posed at 08:04 Jesus has never been the answer to anything, so I'm in the Arsenal need a striker camp...again. Liverpool will not drop six points unless they lose Salah and Van Dijk.
