Dundee manager Tony Docherty tells Premier Sports: "I'm disappointed in the goals that we lose. I thought we created good opportunities, especially in the second half.

"The game is about scoring at one end and defending at the other. I feel we've got good, young players, so it's a group that are gelling. They will learn from those mistakes.

"It's hard to recover from that [penalty], but they do recover. That's their character. They create opportunities and we should score them.

"I think we are the top scorers in Scotland, so it's proven we are good finishers. Today, we just needed to put them away."

  3. 'New signings already showing their quality' - Clementpublished at 19:55 British Summer Time 21 September

Rangers manager Philippe Clement tells Premier Sports: "It's been a really crazy period, feeling like you're only playing away games."

On Nedim Bajrami's first start: "He's just been a week with us, not longer than that, but he's somebody we've been following a long time and we were happy to get a signing like that.

On impact of new signings: "We needed time to train with them, work with them, let them know how to run, how we run together, defensively also. You see it week by week getting better and better.

"They've already shown quality and that's important for the fans. I feel also from the fans that the [recruitment] team did a really goo job with the money we could spend."

On James Tavernier: "It's not nice when you get stick, but it's part of being captain. Today when things go well, it's a good life to be captain of Rangers. But you have to stay respectful, some people overstepped that line. He took it in the right way with only hunger and desire. That's what Tav is about."

  4. 'Comprehensive win for Dons'published at 19:52 British Summer Time 21 September

    FT: Aberdeen 4-0 The Spartans

    Willie Miller
Former Aberdeen captain on BBC Sportsound

The good times certainly do continue [under Jimmy Thelin].

It was a comprehensive win, it was never in any doubt. Aberdeen dominated the game. You just knew that eventually they were going to create opportunities and find the back of the net.

Full marks to Spartans, they stuck with it. They never let their heads go down. They were constantly outplayed but they defended stoutly.

Jack MacKenzie was outstanding again down that left-hand side. What an engine he's got and he puts in some dangerous crosses. There were many, many good Aberdeen performances tonight.

  5. Samuel 'proud' of Spartanspublished at 19:49 British Summer Time 21 September

    FT: Aberdeen 4-0 The Spartans

The Spartans manager Dougie Samuel tells BBC Scotland:"I'm proud of the journey the players have been on in this competition. There were plenty of times when we could have thrown in the towel but they didn't do that.

"We clearly lost goals at bad times which was a huge frustration. But I have to say I really enjoyed watching Aberdeen play - I thought they were fantastic.

"You can see they're a side full of confidence and they asked us a lot of questions.

"They had numerous chances, but you expect that. But I've always said my team has lots of character and resilience."

  6. 'Dessers steals the show'published at 19:45 British Summer Time 21 September

    FT: Rangers 3-0 Dundee

    Ian Murray
Former Rangers defender on BBC Sportsound

In the end, it was fairly dominant. Dundee gave a good account of themselves despite the high scoreline.

Dessers steals the show with his two goals, but it was really great to see Tavernier looking that little bit more confident. Those two for me will take a lot of positives for me.

Not far behind them was Barron, who has settled into this team really well. I like the way he's always asking for the ball and taking the ball. He'll give it away every now and again because he is trying to be positive with it. He's got good energy in that midfield area.

  7. 'I'm a happy man' - Desserspublished at 19:42 British Summer Time 21 September

Rangers striker Cyriel Dessers tells Premier Sports: "I really enjoyed tonight, it was good to be back at Ibrox. I'm a happy man.

"We did well to play at Hampden, but to be back home feels so good. To arrive here, park your car, see the fans... these small things make you feel good.

"To be the number nine at Rangers, score goals at Ibrox, happy days. It's a nice start [to the season] but I want more."

  9. What's on tomorrow?published at 19:36 British Summer Time 21 September

Celtic or Falkirk will take the final semi-final place tomorrow.

It's the top-tier leaders versus the second-tier leaders in Glasgow.

A victory for the away side would be an almighty shock, but they'll travel with confidence.

None of the bouncing we saw after their win over St Johnstone in the last round at Hampden, but they are keen to show their appreciation.

  11. Deserved cup progression on Ibrox returnpublished at 19:29 British Summer Time 21 September

    FT: Rangers 3-0 Dundee

    Martin Dowden

Fully deserved this and it might have been more had Rangers been more clinical.

It was a positive afternoon as Rangers booked a quickfire return to the venue they just vacated, Hampden.

Offensively strong, but one or two question marks will persist about their defending as Dundee could and should have taken at least one chance.

Rangers progress to the semi-finals and there can be little argument against the idea that it was more than merited.

  12. FULL-TIME Rangers 3-0 Dundeepublished at 19:26 British Summer Time 21 September

A Cyriel Dessers double and a James Tavernier penalty see Rangers into the semi-finals of the League Cup.

Philippe Clement's side are deserved winners on their return to Ibrox and could have had more but for an inspired showing from Trevor Carson.

Dundee also had some good sights of goal but were unable to beat Jack Butland.

His low shots goes past the far post though.
