  1. GOOD SAVE!published at 17:59 British Summer Time

    Rangers 1-0 Dundee

Jack Butland reacts well to save Scott Tiffoney's low drive with his legs.

I'm not sure it would have counted anyway. Oluwaseun Adewumi was offside earlier in the move.

  2. Rangers dominant and rewardedpublished at 17:57 British Summer Time

    Rangers 1-0 Dundee

    Martin Dowden
    BBC Sport Scotland at Ibrox

The one thing Rangers were missing was a direct threat on Trevor Carson's goal.

When they did it paid off and now they'll feel they've started exactly how they would have wished.

Pressure was clearly building and the task for Dundee now is to somehow stifle that or this may get away from them quickly.

  3. CLOSE!published at 17:54 British Summer Time

    Aberdeen 1-0 The Spartans

Kevin Nisbet simply has to score here.

Aberdeen knock it about with real purpose and after Jamie McGrath finds Jack MacKenzie, the full-back lays it on a plate for Nisbet.

Somehow he can't connect about six yards out.

A minute later Jamie McGrath then fires wide. Spartans are hanging on here.

  4. 'Dessers ready like any good striker'published at 17:54 British Summer Time

    Rangers 1-0 Dundee

    Ian Murray
Former Rangers defender on BBC Sportsound

The goal comes just as Rangers are starting to put the pressure on. It's the first time they've put any quality into the box.

Like all good strikers, Dessers is ready for the second phase cross.

It's merited on the balance of play.

  5. goal

GOAL! Rangers 1-0 Dundeepublished at 17:49 British Summer Time

    Cyriel Dessers

Cyriel Dessers sweeps Rangers in front on their return to Ibrox.

He should have really scored earlier in the move when Nedim Bajrami's cross found him unmarked six yards out, but the striker stays alert and is on hand to finish when James Tavernier smashes one across the face of goal.

    Rangers 0-0 Dundee

James Tavernier does well to skip past a couple of Dundee defenders, but Cyriel Dessers can't control the cross and it's out for a goal kick.

  7. 'The one and only'published at 17:48 British Summer Time

    Aberdeen 1-0 The Spartans

    Willie Miller
Former Aberdeen captain on BBC Sportsound

He just can't stop scoring, the one and only Pape Habib Gueye finishes the move off.

    Well deserved.

  8. Super six for Gueyepublished at 17:48 British Summer Time

    Aberdeen 1-0 The Spartans

    Tyrone Smith
    BBC Sport Scotland at Pittodrie

Pape Habib Gueye in the right place at the right time again for Aberdeen to smash the ball into the net.

That is six goals for the season now, not bad for someone who looked to be out of the picture last season.

  9. goal

GOAL! Aberdeen 1-0 Spartanspublished at 17:45 British Summer Time

    Pape Habib Gueye

    He can't stop scoring!

It's been coming as well. Aberdeen get a corner after a terrific James Craigen tackle denied Gueye.

But it comes in and when the ball falls to Ante Palaversa, his powerful shot ricochets about and falls to Gueye to stroke in his sixth goal of the season.

    Aberdeen 0-0 The Spartans

    Tyrone Smith
    BBC Sport Scotland at Pittodrie

Spartans have spent the opening 10 minutes at Pittodrie getting pulled all over the park by Aberdeen, who are very much on the front foot.

And when the visitors do get the ball, they are struggling to keep it because of the intensity of the press by the Dons.

    Still 0-0 though.

    Rangers 0-0 Dundee

On their Ibrox return, Rangers' Copland Road stand is half open.

Even still, they'll feel right at home.

  12. Postpublished at 17:40 British Summer Time

    Aberdeen 0-0 The Spartans

Aberdeen look like a team in the mood.

They are fizzing it about really smartly and Spartans are struggling. Sivert Heltne Nilsen scoops a clever ball over their backline and Kevin Nisbet gets a touch towards goal.

However, goalkeeper Blair Carswell comes out to close the angle and claims the ball well.

  13. Postpublished at 17:36 British Summer Time

    Rangers 0-0 Dundee

Nedim Bajrami cuts in off the left and puts one way over.

Rangers are making Dundee work early in this tie.

  14. Postpublished at 17:35 British Summer Time

    Aberdeen 0-0 The Spartans

Aberdeen are on the front foot and work the ball from side to side.

It comes to Sivert Heltne Nielsen on the edge of the box and his fierce shot is heading on target, but Spartans get a good block in.

  15. KICK-OFFpublished at 17:32 British Summer Time

  17. Clarkson in for Keskinen for Donspublished at 17:28 British Summer Time

    Aberdeen v The Spartans (17:30)

Aberdeen boss Jimmy Thelin isn't in the mind to tinker in the League Cup, and why would he after 10 straight wins.

The only change sees winger Topi Keskinen drop to the bench and midfielder Leighton Clarkson start for the first time since recovering from a shoulder injury.

Captain Graeme Shinnie is back from illness but is only on the bench.

Spartans drew 1-1 with Elgin on Tuesday night and make four changes. Out go Kieran Watson, Danny Denholm, Rory Whittaker and Brogan Walls.

In come Jamie Dishington, Lewis Hunter, Callum Booth and Cammy Russell

  18. 'We feel home again' - Clementpublished at 17:26 British Summer Time

    Rangers v Dundee (17:30)

Rangers manager Philippe Clement tells BBC Scotland: "The fans feel home again. It's a big difference to playing at Hampden. It is another atmosphere. The fans are on top of the pitch, they give energy to the team.

"It's normal to be happy to be home. So now we aren't playing all our games like away games, no team in the world wants that.

"I do not want to use Hampden as an excuse [for not getting performances he expects of team] but it is a difference. It is what it is. We have to adapt.

"It's a big challenge because the only important thing is winning all the games and we have a big rebuild with a lot of new players. They need to adapt to the club, the fans, the teammates, the way of playing and a lot more things. It's normal from the first second you come to a new club that you are not at your best. We are still busy with a lot of players in that process.

"The fans are realistic. They know we have less money than others, so you must do things in another way. They know players left for free and we had to pay to replace them. I think the positive thing is that we brought in a lot of young players as it is necessary for the club to create profit in the future. It's not just the short-term, it's about the long-term also."

On Nedim Bajrami starting: "He is a good technical player who can make a difference in the final third. He's smart on the ball and works hard for the team. He can help us a lot as a winger or as a number 10. He will be a good asset."

  19. Ibrox return offers fresh impetuspublished at 17:22 British Summer Time

    Rangers v Dundee (17:30)

    Martin Dowden
    BBC Sport Scotland at Ibrox

It hasn't been the start to the season Rangers sought, both on and off the field.

Returning to Ibrox does offer some familiarity that Philippe Clement will seek to use to maximum effect. They need a run of positive results in the coming weeks, starting here with the chance of reaching a League Cup semi-final.

Dundee have troubled Rangers in the recent past but haven't come to this stadium and won in some time. They've not reached a semi-final in some time. They'll want that to change today.
