Manchester City fans booed Jude Bellingham as he headed upfield just then - Pep Guardiola seemed to be furious someone had not stopped the England man driving straight down the pitch.

But their ire was even greater for Vinicius Jr.

They have not forgotten, or forgiven, Real Madrid for openly declaring Vinicius Jr should have won the Ballon D'Or last year at the expense of Rodri, who is watching from the stands tonight.

I think the City fans would be quite happy to see Vinicius Jr have no impact on this game whatsoever, to prove Rodri was the rightful winner.

Ruben Dias looks to be aggressive in winning the ball back from Real Madrid and it looks like he may have clipped Kylian Mbappe, who is waving to the bench. Just a problem with his boot by the looks of things.

It has been all Juventus so far. Kenan Yildiz had a shot from a good position blocked, although there looked to be an offside in the build up.

It is very hard to see the shape of Real Madrid in the early minutes. Jude Bellingham is playing in the left centre midfield, but as soon as they lose the ball they get back. The front four don't really look like they want to chase the ball.

England boss Thomas Tuchel is in attendance at the Etihad.

Jack Grealish attracts people in and gets a lot of free kicks. City have got a big, tall side tonight and will be looking to exploit those opportunities.

Nice delivery from Kevin de Bruyne but it's headed up and over by Federico Valverde for a corner, which is also cleared.

For Pep Guardiola this is the lineup he wants to have between now until the end of the season, at the back and the front, a team that is strong in both boxes. It is similar in style to the side that won the Treble.

Arsenal game aside it feels like a City team that are about to get it right.

Manchester City fans have just unveiled a banner in the South Stand with a picture of Rodri kissing the Ballon d'Or and the words 'Stop crying your heart out' in reference to Real Madrid's snubbing of the prestigious ceremony.

Cameras pan to Rodri himself in the Manchester City dugout, taking a picture of the enormous display.

For all the talk of Real Madrid not having won many big games this season, they don't lose many. They will be coming up against a Man City team with very little pace and they have the likes of Kylian Mbappe to call on themselves. Madrid will be very confident and will be thinking that they can get a lot of chances.

City have to try to have a go at it. You've got to get into the wider areas and use some pace, and maybe be a little bit more direct into Erling Haaland. If City just sit there and be too patient, they've got that attack and the counter is going to be very quick.

It's one of those games when you turn up and start watching the two managers, the players, the whole atmosphere - these are special, special nights to be involved with.

If City can take a lead into the reverse game, that would be fantastic. I'd take 2-1, you do expect Madrid to get a goal with the way City have been conceding.
