More from Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham speaking to TNT Sports about team-mate Kylian Mbappe: "It is brilliant playing with him. You go into games knowing you can give him the ball and he is going to affect things. Our jobs behind him and the rest of the front three is to try and get them into the best positions possible and I myself try and get in the box too.

"You know when Kylian gets the ball in the areas he likes on the pitch he is going to be dangerous. Left foot or right foot. He scored a few different types of goals today.

"It is incredible what he has done in his career. I know he had a slow start here and took time getting used to life here. Now he is flying and it's so good to see."

  4. 'Most important thing was defensive side of the game'published at 22:23 Greenwich Mean Time 19 February

FT: Real Madrid 3-0 Man City (6-3 on aggregate)

    Real Madrid

Real Madrid midfielder Jude Bellingham speaking to TNT Sports: "It was a good evening and a good performance from us. It was a really enjoyable game to play in. The most important thing for us was the defensive side of the game. We knew that once we boxed that off we could attack with more freedom and that was the key tonight and in the other game.

"They [Man City] have had some injuries and we are also on the back end of that and welcoming some of the lads back. He is important for us in terms of the leadership in the dressing room, having that loud presence before the game, particularly for us younger players. When we are at full strength we are a much better team.

"You always want to play teams at their best and when you see he [Erling Haaland] is not in the team you obviously hope it is nothing serious. He is a good mate of mine and I hope it is not too bad. You play against what you are up against and I thought we managed it well today. They still have other players that can step in and cause damage."

  11. 'Everyone thought this would be a test for Real'published at 22:15 Greenwich Mean Time 19 February

FT: Real Madrid 3-1 Man City (6-3 agg)

    Stephen Warnock
Former Liverpool defender on MOTD: UEFA Champions League

The scoreline does not reflect Real’s dominance of this game and how superior they were to City in every department.

City were outclassed everywhere but tonight particularly underlined their problems in midfield. We’ve seen it all season but even with Nico Gonzalez they could not match Real’s physicality tonight or play with the intensity they needed.

Everyone thought this would be a test for Real tonight but the reality is they did not even have to get out of first gear, and they won extremely comfortably.

You can hear more from Warnock on MOTD: Uefa Champions League at 22:40 GMT on BBC One and the BBC Sport website and app.

  16. 'A perfect night'published at 22:09 Greenwich Mean Time 19 February

FT: Real Madrid 3-0 Man City (6-3 on aggregate)

    Real Madrid

Real Madrid forward Kylian Mbappe speaking to Uefa.com: "A perfect night for the team. We wanted to win. We wanted to qualify for the next round. For us it was only logical that Real Madrid reached the next round of the Champions League.

"When you play against Manchester City it is always a difficult game but we knew that at home we would be very strong. We played better as a group and we were able to give a lot of joy to the fans. We have to continue in this way if we are to win what we want to win this season.

"I want to play well here, I want to make a mark on the season. I want to write history with Real Madrid. The adaptation period for me has ended and now I have to show my quality."

On playing Atletico Madrid or Bayer Leverkusen in the next round: "The reality is that they are both very good teams. Whether we play Atleti or Leverkusen it will be difficult. But for me it is better to play Atletico because then we don't have to travel! We have to travel a lot already. Both games would be difficult but it would be less so without having to travel."
