Bayer Leverkusen has now evolved into a team that is protecting their invincibility status rather than trying to qualify. A Super addition to 2024/2025 Champions League season.

Jon: Wasn't meant to be. Another poor game really. El Kaabi has become prime R9 against us. These last few games were always going to be tough with all the injuries and the small squad. They just need to give it a final push in the league.

Villa not the depth of squad for this level

To all those saying that the fixture schedule is to blame for no English teams getting to European finals this season - it's the same schedule as previous seasons when English teams have done very well, including last season with Man City and West Ham winning trophies. English teams don't have a divine right to triumph in Europe and there will be barren years. Nothing to see here.

Never write off Leverkusen. Past the 80th minute they're a completely different team.

  11. 'Why did Villa continue with the high line? It has cost them again'published at 21:47 British Summer Time 9 May

Olympiakos 2-0 Aston Villa (agg: 6-2)

    Neil Lennon
Former Celtic manager on BBC Radio 5 Live

Olympiakos have been the better team in the second half. I would love to know why Villa continued with the high line after the first leg because it has cost them again tonight. At this level against experienced strikers, deadly strikers, you will be punished time and again.

Olympiakos 2-0 Aston Villa (agg: 6-2)

    Lucy Ward
Former Leeds striker on TNT Sports

El Kaabi has been very clinical when he's got the chance. What a couple of games for him.

But that offside sums up Villa's luck over the last two games. Yes, Olympiakos have been the better team over the two legs, but when Villa have needed something to go their way, they've had no luck.

It's just utter bedlam in here tonight, what an atmopshere, people in tears down the way from us. So much emotion. Ayoub El Kaabi has been brilliant again tonight, so impressive.

A killer last week with a hat-trick and two goals again tonight. You can't begrudge Olympiakos, very much deserved over the two games.
