That's all from me for today. Join us tomorrow as second-top Rangers host bottom side St Johnstone while faltering fourth-placed Aberdeen entertain Heart of Midlothian.

But remember that Sportscene has highlights of today's three games at 19:15 on the BBC Scotland channel and it is repeated at midnight on BBC One Scotland.

All three games in Dingwall, Paisley and Leith were incident packed, so well worth watching.

  2. 'Players deserve praise for turnaround' - Graypublished at 17:55 Greenwich Mean Time 11 January

    FT: Hibernian 3-1 Motherwell

Hibernian head coach David Gray tells BBC Scotland: "Full credit goes to the players.

"That's one defeat in 10, so to be able to turn around the results and performances from where we were at the start of the season, they deserve the praise for all the hard work they've put into it, but also the togetherness we've shown. And I include the staff in that.

"But we're by no means the finished article. We need to keep progressing and moving forward.

"I thought we were in complete control in the first half. But, when it's 2-0, the next goal is always the one. From our point of view, it was so important to get the third goal because it took Motherwell's momentum away."

  3. Goodwin hails 'big game' Moultpublished at 17:51 Greenwich Mean Time 11 January

FT: St Mirren 0-1 Dundee United

Dundee United manager Jim Goodwin tells BBC Scotland: "It's a huge three points given the way the first half went. I think we were very fortunate to be in at 0-0. St Mirren were better than us in every department.

"We had some harsh words at half time and the players raised their energy levels. It was night and day. Over the piece, a draw possibly would have been a fair result, but the character of my team... they keep going.

"It was real individual quality to win the game for us. Louis [Moult] was probably 50/50 for the game yesterday. He's a goalscorer. He's made a career out of scoring big goals in big games.

"Prior to the penalty, [Jack Walton] makes a big, big save one-v-one. Delighted for Jack, another clean sheet. He deserves that."

  4. Well's McGinn likely suffers recurrencepublished at 17:49 Greenwich Mean Time 11 January

    FT: Hibernian 3-1 Motherwell

Motherwell captain Paul McGinn looked distraught at the injury that forced the defender off against his former side at Easter Road.

Manager Stuart Kettlewell tells BBC Scotland: "It looks as if it's a reoccurrence of the injury that kept him out for so long. To what extent, I don't know, but Paul knows his body and he feels it's the same. I'm gutted for him."

Meanwhile, Kettlewell thinks that striker Jack Vale's late red card was a "complete overreaction" from the referee and it should have been a yellow.

  5. Buddies boss laments 'soft goals'published at 17:46 Greenwich Mean Time 11 January

FT: St Mirren 0-1 Dundee United

St Mirren manager Stephen Robinson tells BBC Scotland: "All defeats are hard to take.

"I thought we played very well and created numerous chances to get at least a point. Ultimately, Dundee United are winning games because they do what they do there and they do it very well.

"They wouldn’t have conceded that goal. We did and have conceded that goal on numerous occasions this season. We’re not playing particularly poorly, but both 18-yard boxes are an issue.

"We’re conceding soft goals from not particularly good deliveries into our box. We’re creating chances, playing some half-decent football. To get a 20-goal striker is not something that’s there, we have to work on trying to improve people."

  6. Kettlewell laments 'moment of madness'published at 17:43 Greenwich Mean Time 11 January

    FT: Hibernian 3-1 Motherwell

Motherwell manager Stuart Kettlewell says his side were made to pay for individual errors in the first half before improving in the second in their defeat by Hibs.

"We showed good character and personality in the second half to take the ball, pass and progress up the pitch and ask a few more questions of Hibs," he tells BBC Scotland.

"Then we get back in the game with a moment of quality. I'm delighted for Callum Slattery to get the goal with the journey he's been on the last year or so.

"Then we looked like the team in the ascendancy and playing with a bit of confidence. Then it's a moment of madness from Stephen [O'Donnell] - my most experienced player on the pitch.

"He's angry and frustrated with himself. He doesn't have to do it. It's a penalty, no complaints."

  7. Luck on Hibs' side?published at 17:41 Greenwich Mean Time 11 January

    FT: Hibernian 3-1 Motherwell

Hibs midfielder Josh Campbell thinks "maybe just a bit of luck on our side" has helped his side "turn the corner".

After the win over Motherwell, he tells BBC Scotland: "You could see there was a bit of a fatigue in the boys.

"But we got the two goals before they came out firing after the break as expected. The goal lifts them, but the third kills the same."

United manager Jim Goodwin has been expressing his delight to BBC Scotland at his side's win over his former side.

I think there's a brilliant balance about Dundee United when you look at the quality players that know the Scottish game.

They understand the league, they understand the demands, balanced with a bit of youth in the team and then you have guys like Sam Dalby that, of course, have had a brilliant season.

They had St Mirren's number this afternoon.
