Philippe Clement says he "doesn't expect" Ridvan Yilmaz to leave Rangers, despite speculation linking the left-back with a return to Besiktas, as he'd only let players go if a better replacement was there ready to come in.

"He's injured," Clement tells BBC Scotland. "We want to keep all our players that perform well. We can only let players go that perform well if we can replace them by better players, so I don't expect that in the case of Ridvan."

In terms of incomings, Clement is adamant plenty of work is going on behind the scenes with the directors and recruitment staff.

"We had meetings about players who have the level to help the team and to help us go the next level," the Belgian says. "We will see now in the next couple of hours what's possible for the club."

Clement also tells me that John Souttar won't play the whole 90 minutes this afternoon as the centre-half gets his first start since going off injured against Tottenham Hotspur in the Europa League on 12 December.

  2. Who might arrive or exit Ibrox?published at 14:33 Greenwich Mean Time 2 February

    Rangers v Ross County (15:00)

Like Brendan Rodgers across the city, Rangers' Phillipe Clement is looking to add to his squad before Monday's deadline and hence been linked with a plethora of players.

There's been less speculation this time about Lawrence Shankland amid the Hearts striker's scoring dip, Dundee midfielder Lyall Cameron seems to be of interest, while 19-year-old Chelsea centre-half Aaron Anselmino and Red Bull Salzburg midfielder Bobby Clark the latest to be linked with Ibrox.

A few have already exited Ibrox this January and the latest speculation is that Genoa are interested in midfielder Ianis Hagi, striker Cyriel Dessers with Cagliari, left-back Ridvan Yilmaz is strongly linked with a return to Besiktas, while Millwall reportedly want to take back 19-year-old striker Zak Lovelace.

  3. Frail wants united Well after Kettlewell exitpublished at 14:31 Greenwich Mean Time 2 February

    Motherwell v Celtic (15:00)

Motherwell entertain Celtic under caretaker Stevie Frail after Stuart Kettlewell resigned on Monday citing fan abuse that was affecting his family.

While condemning what he described as the "minority" who harranged the former manager, Frail hopes to unite the whole fan base again as the club search for a permanent replacement.

The former Hearts boss could hardly face a tougher first game in charge of a top-flight side since 2008.

  4. Who will fill Kyogo's boots?published at 14:29 Greenwich Mean Time 2 February

    Motherwell v Celtic (15:00)

Despite the return of winger Jota from Rennes, Kyogo Furuhashi's switch to the French club last week has Celtic searching for a new striker and the media scrambling in turn for snippets of speculation about where they might find one.

Brondby's Mathias Kvistgaardenn's has been linked with Celtic for what seems like years now and he has been joined by Sevilla's Kelechi Iheanacho and Slovan Bratislava's David Strelec.

Sondre Orjasaeter, a winger with Norwegian club Sarpsborg, is also said to have been subject of a bid from the Scottish champions.

Meanwhile, reports claim West Ham United are poised to sign Daniel Cummings, who is out of contract with Celtic despite the 18-year-old being handed his debut against Aston Villa on Wednesday.

That's all before you start looking at where Celtic will find a left-back after Alex Valle was recalled by Barcelona and attempts to bring Kieran Tierney back early before he leaves Arsenal this summer.

New signing Luke Armstrong replaces Tony Watt in attack, while left-back Dom Thompson starts at the expense of Harry Paton.

Frail's bench is boosted by fresh attacking loan signings made last night - Will Dickson from Manchester City and Luke Plange from Crystal Palace.

Rangers make three changes to the team that beat Union Saint-Gilloise in the Europa League, with centre-backs John Souttar and Clinton Nsiala and midfielder Ianis Hagi coming in and Robin Propper, Leon King and Nedim Bajrami dropping out.

Propper and Bajrami are on the bench, while King does not feature, having suffered a suspected concussion on Thursday.

Souttar came on as a second-half substitute against the Belgians while Nsiala and Hagi were ineligible.

Rangers' sole winter transfer signing, on-loan Lille defender Rafael Fernandes, could debut as a substitute.

  11. Jota on bench as Carter-Vickers & Maeda returnpublished at 14:09 Greenwich Mean Time 2 February

Brendan Rodgers makes four changes to the Celtic side that put up a decent fight before losing 4-2 to Aston Villa in the Champions League.

Cameron Carter-Vickers returns to central defence after injury, while winger Daizen Maeda is available again after suspension ruled him out on Wednesday.

Midfielder Luke McCowan and right-back Anthony Ralston also come into the starting XI as Alistair Johnston, Liam Scales, Arne Engels and Yang Hyun-jun all drop to the bench.

Jota, the new signing from Rennes, is listed among the substitutes and could make his second Celtic debut.
