Hearts left it late to claim victory after a rapid-fire Bayley Hutchison brace finally broke down stubborn Montrose.
Stormy conditions at Links Park, which overcame a pitch inspection to get the go-ahead, had kept chances to a premium in the first half.
But as the game entered its final phase, Emma Brownlie was given time and space to cross to the back post, where Hutchison was well-placed to head home the opener.
Within two minutes she had doubled Hearts’ lead, Sade Adamolekun with great play down the right flank before whipping in a low cross for Hutchison to turn home.
Adamolekun set up the third to wrap up the win for the visitors, putting through substitute Monica Forsyth to slot past Kirsten Pratt with two minutes remaining
