  3. 'It is frustrating'published at 22:03 BST 19 September

    FT: Everton 1-2 London City

    Everton

Everton's Clare Wheeler, speaking to Sky Sports: "I think at the start we were really on the front foot and the Lionesses capitalised. We created more chances towards the end but I think it was too little too late and we didn't capitalise.

"It is frustrating. We have a young team. Today will be one where we look back and wish we could have taken more. We have a lot of games going forward if we need to learn from today and build going forward."

On whether the league cup will be a welcome break from the league: "I think it's another game to get some momentum. We're going into it wanting points, wanting to take our chances. Hopefully we can build some momeutm and follow it up at the weekend"

On whether it's difficult with such a new team: "A lot of fresh faces, things take time. In this league, you need to start getting results. We'll certainly look at this game and try to learn from it."

  4. 'Clinton is such a fantastic player'published at 22:00 BST 19 September

As soon as Grace Clinton came on, she picked up great pockets of space. She is such a fantastic player and she looked happy when she came on. She scored a goal and got an assist.

  5. 'We can't start games two or three yards off it'published at 21:57 BST 19 September

    FT: Tottenham 1-5 Man City

    Tottenham Hotspur

Tottenham manager Martin Ho speaking to Sky Sports: "Obviously, disappointment. We showed flashes in the game but we can't defend that way. It was more about the aggression to want to get close and want to defend and we did not do that.

"Some cracks appear at times and if we look back at the goals, I thought the response in the second half was better. We have to be more competitive.

"The response is the biggest one and some of the flashes were good. I think some of the players who came on did well. We can't start games two or three yards off it."

  6. 'We deserved at least a point'published at 21:53 BST 19 September

    FT: Everton 1-2 London City

    Everton

Everton manager Brian Sorensen, speaking to Sky Sports: "I think we weren't sharp enough in the right moments. I think the girls put everything they could into it in terms of getting goals and goalscoring opportunities. I also felt everything dropped to their advantage, in the first time there were 10 free kicks for them and one for us. It's hard to get rhythm and momentum. I'm disappointed on behalf of the girls because I think they deserve more."

On whether he wished they played more like they did at the end of the game: "I think we started a bit more preactive and [tried to] see if we can get in behind. We created a big, big chance when Toni got down that right flank. They hadn't had proper shots on goals but then they score on a set piece. The second goal, maybe we were a bit too aggressive there so we break apart and they create a transition and scored. The girls then reacted really well. I thought we had okay opportunities in the end to get a point."

On whether his side needed to be more clinical: "We need to be sharper, that's for sure."

On the substitutions' impact: "I think they did everything they could. They are very good players, it's a very good team. I think we deserved at least a point."

  7. 'We need to be unpredictable'published at 21:49 BST 19 September

    FT: Tottenham 1-5 Man City

    Manchester City

Manchester City manager Andree Jeglertz speaking to Sky Sports: "I think it shows that we feel that we are in control and are doing a good game. It is important for us that we are not just a team that has the ball a lot of the time. We can also defend in a very good structure. It was a great game.

"I think the key thing for us is to be unpredictable. If you look at these three games, we have created so many scoring chances. Some of that is from possession but some of it is punishing an opponent when they are out of their structure.

"We have so many different kinds of players and that also makes us unpredictable. They play in the same positions but they give different things to the team."

On Lauren Hemp: "I just said there, we are sorry for her of course and we will see how it happens in the coming days."

City look good but definitely need a new goalkeeper if they are going to challenge. Keating not good enough, not good on crosses, distribution, agility and presence. What about a move for Mary Earps?

  9. 'We improved'published at 21:42 BST 19 September

    FT: Everton 1-2 London City

    London City Lionesses

London City Lionesses boss Jocelyn Precheur speaking to Sky Sports: "It's very satisfying and its very important to get the three points. For me this is not the most important. We improved. It was tough for us but I challenged the team to be stronger defensively, it was not perfect, far from it but we improved and my best satisfaction is we started to create the cohesion we need to play all thee talented players together."

On being defensively strong tonight: "This was a challenge. When you concede nine goals in two games you need to focus more. I prefer to win 4-3 than 1-0. It was a challenge to have a clean sheet tonight. we were close to that. Everyone did a good job to keep our goal safe. It's far from perfect but we are in a good way and have the satisfaction of three points."

On Isobel Goodwin's goals: "She is a perfect example of what I explained before. Isobel is a perfect example, she has started to adapt. she proved she has the talent."

  10. 'We needed something today'published at 21:37 BST 19 September

    FT: Everton 1-2 London City

    London City Lionesses

London City Lionesses goalscorer Isobel Goodwin speaking to Sky Sports: "We needed something today and today we proves we came together as a team and I am very happy to get the two goals."

On the importance of a first top-flight win: "We are a brand new team. It's hard getting together, we've not had a pre-season together. As the season goes on we will gel more and hopefully get more wins."

On her first WSL goals: "I am very happy. Two goals, what more could I want?"

On what the message was at half-time: "Just to keep going. we did so well in the first half. all we had to do was keep going and to get the second goal really topped it off."

  11. 'Thank you so much to this team'published at 21:32 BST 19 September

    FT: Tottenham 1-5 Man City

    Manchester City

Manchester City winger Kerolin speaking to Sky Sports: "I could not do it without the team. I am really proud of the team and we did this together. I got this Player of the Match because of the team.

"It is not good when your team-mate gets hurt but when I came on I just need to be prepared. I need to just do what I am in training and thank you so much to the team.

"I think the most important thing for us now is to be a dynamic team. I think the most important thing is our connection so thank you so much to the team."

Great impact from Clinton. I played with Laura Coombs and she is the ultimate professional.

She is always ready when called upon and makes sure she is in the right place at the right time. That's not an easy finish either.
